So I'm working on some of the Perry Dragoons of the Guard. I the Rousselot plates he shows the saddle cloth and the 3 tier holster covers with a thin red edging.

But in his book "Napoleon's Elite Cavalry" he shows a thin green edging. I assume that the book was done much later than the uniform plates.

Any input on which is correct??

Thanks,

John

Be careful with "red". It's an orangey-red, I think.

The most common interpretation tends to side with Andre Jouineau's analysis (of multiple competing sources), that the edging was green, rather than red.

Thanks guys. I'm going with green. Since the book was published so much later than the plates perhaps Rousselot got some new information.

Interesting--so both Hourtoulle and Knotel are completely off? Looks like I wasted some money…

Actually, never known it as red, always green.
