My lad wants to go down the 15mm ancients path. He's looking for quality 15mm figs, he wants a good selection of troops plus Rome's enemies. It seems Corvus Belli were the boys but have now disappeared, so can anyone point me in a suitable direction please? Mike |

It seems Corvus Belli were the boys but have now disappeared … Sadly all too true. I only have 7 packs of Eastern archers left from a very large stock. -- Martin Stephenson Vexillia: Wargames Miniatures & Accessories Shop | Rules | Twitter |

Good question. I had a look a while back for the same thing. The Peter Pig range looks OK |

When I put together my EIR collection the majority of figures that I used were Old Glory 15s supplemented with Essex and Corvus Belli. You can see my collection in diorama form at link |

Old Glory and Khurasan have some nice EIR. The OG15s have plumes on their helmets but are easily snipped off. But Corvus Belli had the best by far, a shame they dropped their ancient line. Campaign Game Miniatures has some coming soon and their caesarian Romans are some of the best. |

The AB minis are excellent, but they don't cover Auxiliaries unfortunately, abfigures.com/33-romans They are also 18mm rather than 15, so you would need to use larger figures for auxiliaries etc. I'm very glad I was able to build my EIR using the CB figures. |

Thanks guys, anyone know what happened to CB? such great figures and then nothing! See bit.ly/1SUR6hI & the situation remains the same last time I checked a few months ago. -- Martin Stephenson Vexillia: Wargames Miniatures & Accessories Shop | Rules | Twitter |

what are your thoughts on Adler 10mm, from what I can see they look nice, problem is slightly the wrong period, |

The strange thing is, I know at least two parties who inquired whether the ranges are for sale and were told no. Weird. |

Unfortunately, it's now very hard to find what you want on the new MM website. Otherwise, I agree with you, Phil. |

Yeah that website is a trainwreck -nice figures though. I'd suggest checking out Donnington. The cavalry are very good and so are the auxillery archers. My legionaries are Corvus Belli but otherwise I'd have gone Donnington. I did get some of the new QRF legionaries and providing you don't mind sticking shields on they are very nice too. All is not lost. |

Nothing wrong with Essex EIR in my opinion, I have a mix of them Old Glory and Corvus Belli |

The Chariot figures are OK, there are some variations in pose and the sculpting is clean so they paint up easily. Not so sure about proportions of figures. Why do so many people have difficulty with MMs website? It's one of the most logical I have come across and has a search function as well. Took me three clicks to get to " Imperial Rome Triumphant". Try harder chaps, the company offers some of the best ranges around (including GHQ 1/285 if you are into micro armour) My very favourite EIR are the AB figures, they are period specific to, I think, 7AD, but a dream to paint. My own army has these as first cohort, with Old Glory, Chariot and Minifigs making up the other cohorts and auxiliaries. |

I buy all my Chariot based armies from MM and whilst I agree that their new website isn't the best it does work , however it wasn't built with XP in mind so it locks up , I only access it using my Win7 system. Anyone in the industry fancy buying the Corvus Belli molds? |

You're right SteamingDave. I'd missed the changing menu on the left. Thanks for demanding a better effort! |

There is a full listing of (I believe) all of the current (and recently OOP) 15mm EIR ranges here: link tim |

Hi guys, thanks for all the advice, it looks like we may be going up to 20mm with Newline figures, we both like what we see (EIR) Now need help with shield transfers for these figures, Sean from Newine got back to me very quickly (thanks Sean) and seems to think LBM studios might do suitable ones, any advice guys? many thanks in advance, Mike |
williamtheconker | 29 Jun 2015 4:37 p.m. PST |
This is what I've come up with, what do you recon? Newline EIR and Celts; XYSTON shields for the Celts, LBM transfers for XYSTON; LBM 'HAT' transfers for the EIR; would it work? |
