These are the sailors pressed into service as infantry by the desperate French Republic. Since they fought in the winter, I based them on snow. I'm planning on doing a campaign of most of the battles of the Franco Prussian War, using Bloody Big Battles. I figure if I can win more than the French actually did (a low bar) I'll have bragging rights.
And here are the brave squids.

I like 'em!

I recently finished an Old Glory French Line regiment of 36 figures.

The link above also includes comparison of French from other manufacturers too.

Those look great! I have four of these Old Glory regiments (10 bases each with three figs per base). I plan to paint samples of each pose and send them to Fernando sometime in the next few months. As I get older I realize that I do not have time to paint them all myself!

Those look very nice.

I did mine using 25mm Old Glory Boxer Rebellion French sailors. They don't look exactly right but they will work for me.

Excellent work! Vive la France!

The mixed poses work really well. And the snowy bases.

Nice painting on all of these figures! Jon, I was wondering why you have painted the epaulets in different colors (green, red, yellow). Except for the Foreign Legion, I have not seen them depicted in these colors in any sources that I have.

Don, I saw your question on the blog and addressed it there.

Don, I think maybe in 1859 the French line infantry regiments still had grenadiers with red epaulletes, fusiliers with red/green and voltigeurs with yellow. I thought the same thing when I saw the pics.
