Just starting to paint up a load of the plastic confederates and I thought I would like to use them as Hood's Texans. From memory Perry don't make specific figures for these ( some manufacturers do )is it just the Texas star cap badge I need to worry about or was there some other feature specific to them ? Thank you. |

It's just the star, Steve Barber makes a pack of Texas heads, don't know if they would fit though |

As Gray Ghost stated, the Texas units used the Lone Star. |

Well, not all soldiers from Texas had that device pinned to their hats. Maybe just make a few to represent the whole unit? |

Yes, Choctaw has it. Some had it and lost it, some (especially newer recruits) never got it. |

Why not just paint the star on their hats? |

Old Glory do a set of Hood's Texans. 30 figures, and as Choctaw stated not every one has a star on their hat. |

Take a look here : link Look for references ACX 58 and 59. Both are units of 24 named "Texas Rebel Yell" They come with command pack and flag. Nice pics with painted figures. They are top notch. |

Back when I re enacted, I was in a "texas unit". they made a point of being proud of that little star, but they were small little brass things that had 2 little brass pin like things on the back that you bent over to secure it. I went through 4 of them in 2 years. and that was one weekend a month. I wouldn't worry about them if it becomes difficult. If you need something to set them apart, the company 1st sgts had very small "guidon" type texas stare flags that would slip over their bayonets for marching and the like. |
