Excellent report, thank you for posting! Would you recommend the scenario book this came from as suitable for conversion to other rule sets? |

Thanks Guys @GoodOldRebel,Unfortunately I've only ever played F&F so I don't really know how well this book would convert to other systems. The OoB's listed within each of the 19 scenarios are given in element/stand numbers only (eg 2nd Kansas 9/7/5). So I'm guessing you would need to convert those back into troop numbers by multiplying them by 40 (eg 2nd Kansas 9x40=360 troops) The book was also written with 15mm games in mind so a lot of the battles contain more troops than I can manage in 28mm on a 5x8 foot table (I just like the look of 28mm). cheers Roundie |

@Roundie Thanks, may well give the scenario book a go as I can never pass a good scenario resource by haha! I've gamed this battle in 15mm using brigade F&F and segments of it in 28mm using Guns at Gettysburg. The F&F resulted in a fairly convincing Rebel win as Hindman crushed Herron then soaked up Blunt's increasingly desperate assaults. It became a race to see what ran out first, time or Blunt's shattered brigades! In 28mm its more even, Shoup comfortably saw off Herron thanks mainly to a catastrophic command roll failure which resulted in one entire division retire off table having done no more than march on and lob a few shells at the distant Rebels. On the Rebel left it was a different story where Blunt met Parsons assault head on, first blunting it (no pun intended) then turning back the gallant but exhausted Missourians. |
