I wish the GW designers could simply look at any period of history and see how not stupidly cluttered with junk soldiers are. These do not look like soldiers in battle. These look like soldiers on an extravagant parade. It's my main issue with a lot of their models personally. Just so cluttered and cartoony. |

Ehhhh – I'm not liking these. I don't mind so much the change to the Warhammer world itself, that was bound to happen sooner or later. But these figures look like a marriage/blending of fantasy and 40k, too stylized and too science fictiony. These look like too much like super-hero proportioned Greek or Roman God figures. I think my Warhammer games of fantasy will remain in the Old World with 8th Edition and before. I just can't let go of the Old World, to me it IS Warhammer. So now we will have "classic" Warhammer, which isn't going anywhere, unless of course you are an official tournament gamer. In that case you are either loving this or raging because you have to follow along with the rules and basing changes even if you hate them. But when you are free to game privately, you can simply tell yourself that the Old World hasn't gone any where. It would be like if someone somehow got a hold of the rights to the Tolkien estate and published some new official version of Middle Earth with a whole new map with new lore. Imagine if they came out with a new "official" map of Middle Earth saying that it had been blown apart and had flown off into the universe in bits and now the Shire was in its own reality bubble, and Gondor and Morder were in another reality bubble. That would be pretty horrible and most if not all Tolkien fans would (hopefully!) reject it with all their heart and soul. But even if that happened, the old Middle Earth wouldn't go any where. In other words, you are not forced to "play along" with an official change of any fantasy world. As I said, the only people that this truly affects directly are those gamers involved in official tournaments or play in clubs who will only play the current edition of Warhammer. |

I just can't let go of the Old World, to me it IS Warhammer. Same for me. |

@Swastakowey, You said it perfectly! Exactly my thoughts and feelings when I first saw these pictures. |

These minis look more like Marvel Super Heroes than they do soldiers in an army. |

No-one mentioned the round bases ? or is this an already known change to WHFB ? … Me ? I don't mind them , they just increased the value of all of my older generation GW armies I now use for other rule systems. Yes very cluttered and no doubt fragile as a result . cheers Tom |

Yes, this is the magic recipe that will save Warhammer Fantasy… Mantic, the print run for KoW 2, I would make a bigger order with the printer :-) |

If this is the future of WHB I have to say i'm disappointed. I was hoping they'don't rein in the chunky zaniness, but it seems even chunkier and zanier. |
Mithmee | 26 Jun 2015 11:36 p.m. PST |
All of them are on Round Bases. Sucks for long time players who now need to rebase everything. Also looks like GW is stealing from a certain Marvel movie. Oh and those first set of models are God awful. |
Mad Boffin | 26 Jun 2015 11:37 p.m. PST |
Reading rumours from other sites suggests that the good guys are a type of angelic force fighting for the God Sigmar. That's why they are so extravagant. I was going to give the new Warhammer the benefit of the doubt, but seeing these models has put me right off. Nice models, but not the Warhammer I know. Looks more like 40K, and I left that behind ages ago. |

So it looks like its going to be LoTR basing , where they start of with round bases and then maybe go to the larger insert bases. Not going to pre order anything, ill wait and see what the price hike is going to be, it is the only thing thats "done it " for me. As to the figures, i really like them and from the photos looks like they will be fun to paint. |

Wasn't the rumour always that Sigmar was one of the lost Primarchs from 40K and the Warhammer world was somewhere in the Eye of Terror? Kind of explains why this lot look like Space Marines. Guess Sigmar has returned with attitude and a Jump pac…errr wings. Personally not a big fan but then I still play 3rd edition WFB so I doubt I'm the target market some how. |

Wonkothesane | 29 Jun 2015 2:16 a.m. PST |
GW are pretty dedicated to the "teaser" aspect of this release. Either the staff have been told very little, or they're making a good job of not showing it. No-one at Lenton yesterday was prepared to comment on the details except, of course, that it will be "awesome". They're due to be shown/told about it on Thursday, just before they start taking pre-orders (hate that term: are there any other kind of orders? Retrospective orders, perhaps?) |
Xintao | 29 Jun 2015 11:36 a.m. PST |
Looks like my Warhammer editions stops at 8. Well hell I might even go backwards. Xin Edit, taking a 2nd look at the figures. They look like crap. If I wanted to play 40k, I would play 40k. Hmmm maybe it is time to give mantic another look. |
The Beast Rampant | 29 Jun 2015 12:16 p.m. PST |
Although these particular factions leave me stone cold, I am interested to see what others look like. Interesting models, coupled with GW's "Get In a Game Anywhere" factor could drag me back in. Though those odds are pretty -poor. Question is, will I have to wait a year for the four-page rulebook that is to not sold exclusively with $125 USD worth of ugly minis? Or maybe they'll offer a free no-frills, rules-only PDF? If so, I refuse to accept The Plague of Frogs as counting as the return of the slann, dammit. |
KenofYork | 30 Jun 2015 5:55 a.m. PST |
Those minis are a little too similar to Space Marines. The style does not seem to fit in with the images of the Old World. Perhaps this is a bridge from WFB to 40K? I was curious, but not so much anymore. |
Centurio Prime | 01 Jul 2015 5:38 a.m. PST |
There is no need to rebase your old miniatures. The base doesn't matter. I personally will still be playing 8th edition occasionally, so wouldnt rebase anyway. For the previews I have seen so far, this game is different, new, and looks fun. It is different enough from 8th edition WHFB that it is actually a new game sharing some common background. So there is no reason not to continue playing 8th. |
