Should links referring to the vendor itself point to: 1. TMP'S Vendor/manufacturers entry or 2. directly to the relevant page on the advertiser's site? 3. Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" video 4. Zardoz photo Ex. Here's an offer for free stuff at Warlord: TMP link If I want to take Warlord up on it, from that page, I have to go through the TMP vendor page first and then hunt it down on Warlord's site after. Isn't that inefficient? Why shouldn't it link to the offer page at Warlord. Luckily Warlord's site is intelligently designed but not all sites are. So I'm a 2., if you haven't gathered, though 3 and 4 continue to amuse even now. |

Usually, with manufacturers like Battlefront, there is a link "For more information" that does take you there. |

2 Should be a requirement for a posting in Hobby News |

If not 2, then 3. 1 is less entertaining and about as useful as 3. |

2 would be better, but for info: When we submit Hobby News stories, there is a box for us to put a link, which the editors then use for the 'For more information' button at the bottom of each news story. (When that button doesn't appear, I assume the company didn't fill in the relevant box.) We can also include regular web addresses within the news story if we want to, or if we need more links than the single 'For more info' button. These will then be linked directly to the location we've specified. Also, the editors will add links themselves for any company or website that appears in your story. If you mention Kickstarter somewhere, they will turn that into a link to Kickstarter's homepage. Mention your company name, it gets turned into a link to your entry in the TMP Manufacturer directory. |

10 Sorry, I'm a software guy. I was getting bored with all the "2"s and couldn't resist. Rick |

Why shouldn't it link to the offer page at Warlord. The reason we do it this way is that a link to the Manufacturers Directory "always works" – links to company websites do not always work, as links often change with time. Therefore, we only need to update the MD link, not a million links all over the website. |

Looking over the list of current Hobby News items – not one of these stories is relevant over 30 days or so – it's all temporary sales or new product announcements. I think it'd be pretty safe to have a temporary direct link. The default assumption is that News is impermanent. I could be wrong. |
