So if you buy a set of rules as a download, do you usually print out a hard copy? Or do you use a tablet or e-reader? I always print them out, so i have just as much paper as I have always had …. |
Striker | 24 Jun 2015 9:21 p.m. PST |
I usually print them out. More convenient for me to read them that way. |
raylev3 | 24 Jun 2015 9:24 p.m. PST |
Always print them out….it's a lot easier to flip thru pages to find a particular rule than it is to scroll. |

Print them, since technology frequently fails. Paper rarely does, unless there is a flood, tornado, hurricane, or fire. |
Martin Rapier | 24 Jun 2015 11:09 p.m. PST |
Print them. I'm not lugging half a dozen electronic devices along to a game so everyone can have a copy to look at. |
RobH | 24 Jun 2015 11:58 p.m. PST |
Always print, usually after using pdf edit to remove colours, fluff and un-necessary images. |

Not any more. Only Qrs and even. |

Print them – unless, after reading them on my computer, I've decided I'm never likely to play them. |
PzGeneral | 25 Jun 2015 2:13 a.m. PST |
I look them over on the computer, then print them if they are going to be played. I don't like scrolling through books on my tablet. |
skippy0001 | 25 Jun 2015 2:47 a.m. PST |
Print, plus tables, combat synopsis handouts. Still a player will have the rules in his hand and will ask a obvious question…."budddiissshhheeer(spaghetti western revolver sound)…waaa….waaa….waaaa |
Sundance | 25 Jun 2015 3:36 a.m. PST |
Print them – easier to find what I'm looking for on paper than on electronics. |

It depends on the rules. Some I will print the whole set others just the QRS still not at all if I feel I wont play them or if a friend has a hard copy. |
45thdiv | 25 Jun 2015 3:52 a.m. PST |
I only print the quick reference guides so everyone playing has a set. The rules stay on the iPad. It is one small device that is very handy for rules. Matthew |

I write my own rules and always print them out. They're only 12 pages including charts, tables and illustrations and game-designer drivel, so why not. Of course I think the last time we actually looked at them was 8 games and 2 years ago. |
DontFearDareaper | 25 Jun 2015 4:39 a.m. PST |
I will add to the chorus of print them with the proviso that I will generally buy a hard copy over a pdf if the option is available. Dave |
Karellian Knight | 25 Jun 2015 4:57 a.m. PST |
Print them as well, so much easier to read. |
Who asked this joker | 25 Jun 2015 5:02 a.m. PST |
I used to print the ones I wanted to play. Now only the QRS |

Both. I print them so I can use them when gaming. I read them on the tablet when I'm just reading them. |
Jozis Tin Man | 25 Jun 2015 6:31 a.m. PST |
No, read them on my Kindle. I may print a quick reference sheet, but usually will make my own and print that. |
whitphoto | 25 Jun 2015 6:56 a.m. PST |
If it's a full rules set, yes. If it's a reference book like Bolt Action's "Armys of" books then no. |
darthfozzywig | 25 Jun 2015 8:44 a.m. PST |
I may print a quick reference sheet This. |
Weasel | 25 Jun 2015 9:15 a.m. PST |
We have my laptop next to the table when we game, but I print if it's a bit longer or I just want to read it without toting that about. Regardless, reference sheets always get printed. We have an old-school laser printer, so spitting out 100 pages is pretty quick and easy. |
John Leahy | 25 Jun 2015 11:14 a.m. PST |
I did all the time before my printer died. I got used to duplex printing. Gotta get a new one as I have several sets that need printing. |

Never print, for the past five years or so. I find finding info on an electronic PDF infinitely easier than flipping through paper. I'm curious if those who don't, know that you can search them? |

Shaun Travers | 26 Jun 2015 2:53 p.m. PST |
I rarely print rules I get in PDF. I usually print of a QRS. Once or twice I have had to print some of the pages of the rules as the QRS was not great. For the latter, I now create my own QRS. |
StarfuryXL5 | 26 Jun 2015 8:14 p.m. PST |
Scrolling to find a rule? One of the big advantages of digital files is that they're searchable. No scrolling, no flipping of pages. Control-F is your friend. |
dandiggler | 29 Jun 2015 9:09 a.m. PST |
It depends, I usually keep them as pdf only unless I decide to play them, then print them out to have a copy to take notes on. I do have access to a color laser printer and binding machine, without those I might try to make do without. |
