I fancy a new challenge for my redcoats…

Can anyone suggest a range of figures that make good Moors to attack English Tangiers c1660-1680?

My English are Front Rank, which I know are big 28s, so ideally a range that matches up ok.

Thank you!

The only ones I know for sure are the Surens 30mm.

Thanks Cyrus.

I was wondering if any if the Gripping Beast El Cid medievals might work?

My opinion is that they are too medieval in appearance. Morocco has some very distinct costumes by this time.
Here are some pictures that should give you some guidance.

I hope this helps.

I've been mulling over exactly the same question, except my English are North Star's 1672, so really big. The Spencer Smith ones would probably match perfectly.

But I have some Artizan Moors I was going to get rid of but now will use at least some, and Eureka's Turkish Pirates seem right as some allies, if not an entire force – link

And it would allow me to get the harem set, purely for a rescue scenario, as well.

I've found little in the way of information on just what the locals were armed with and looked like, apart from some illustrations like those above.

There is not much information out there, that I could find.

This diorama is to commemorate the Battle of Tondibi in 1591 which was between Morocco and the Songhai Empire.
The Moroccans depicted here would hold true for 1660-1680.
The figures are Suren 30mm.

Any suggestions as to which 15/18mm figures would do for Moroccans?
