4-ground make MDF ones and Colonel Bill's make C18th crew. The crew need some work to make them really suitable for AWI though. |

Go to ebay. There are pencil sharpeners available that are made in the shape of conestoga and "regular" covered wagons. They are roughly 28mm. Just pull out the sharpener, plug the hole and paint. |

Not sure you'll find any cheap ones, unless you find some plastic toys that are the right size. All of the manufactures seem to be very proud of their metal ones… |
