Those are great! I took a similar idea with a big piece of carpet that I bought at Home Depot. Same deal, about $20 USD of carpet and I was able to do many feet of road. Just flipped the sections over and used the back-side of the carpet.

The cork tiles are a great basing alternative. Nice work!

Thanks guys!

That's a great idea and probably much simpler than mine Baranovich. I'll have to look into that.

Looks great! How thick are the cork tiles? Any problems with warping/curling at the edges?

Thanks for the tutoriaal; will look at more in-depth when I get home.

Thanks again for the compliments guys!

The cork tiles are 2mm thick, and I haven't noticed any warping as of yet. Then again, they are only about 4 days old so they might in time.

Do you think gluing a piece of basswood to the bottom would prevent warping?

Plastic maybe. But wouldn't want them to be too thick.

Where in Wal-of-China-Mart do you find these? Went all over store the other day. Local hardware store didn't seem to have them either.

I found the cork tiles next to the bulletin boards and white boards in the office supplies section.
