Great sight! I wonder why they went to the length of flying the old USA flag but a Tricoleur instead of the Fleur de Lys? Maritime law perhaps?

rmaker24 Jun 2015 9:36 a.m. PST

Yes. The Tricoleur is the legal flag of France. She is a French registered vessel.

Tricoleur or Fleur de lys, She is beautiful. She is now in my bucket list

Is this ship a reconstruction of the infamous HMS "Hermione" site of the bloodiest mutiny in RN history? The RN captured her from the French, lost her in the mutiny, and got her back in a famous cutting out fight. The story is extremely well told in Dudley Pope's "The Black Ship".

Rory, I sincerely hope that you and all interested UK and European TMPers get a chance to visit her when she sails home.

Hopefully, once she is at her home port, they will have organized tours that allow you to go into the waist and perhaps even below decks. As I mentioned in my "review" last week, I completely understand why that wasn't allowed on this voyage, but I was still a little disappointed.
