I read it soon after publication. I thought it was a good general history about the the U.S. Army in those campaigns. Worth the time and money. |

Another vote for the series. A good luck at the behavior and interaction of the Allied generals with good vignettes of the rank and file. I learned much. |

Another vote for the trilogy. Start with An Army at Dawn, about North Africa. |

Excellent work (the whole trilogy) which doesnt sacrifice historical accuracy for readability. |

Excellent throughout but Army at Dawn stands out as best of the three. Smaller topic allows more detailed coverage and also lots of very good material about the maturation of the US Army and how this impacted our becoming a world power. Great insights. TomT |

Though I'm a fan of the Italian campaign, I would agree that Army At Dawn is the best, because it covers a topic American gamers usually don't know much about. Like the Allies actually fought the French in 1942. Or what happened before Kassarine Pass. And read NAPLES '44 by Norman Lewis for a British view of occupied Naples. - John Paul |
