I found this fascinating . . . a news conference at The Explorers Club describing the search for artifacts from the First Battle of Tobago on the bottom of Rockley Bay (now Scarborough Bay). A description of the history behind the battle and the archaeological expedition itself was given by its leader, (and a guy who has already forgotten more about 17th century navies than you or I will ever know) Dr. Kroum Batchvarov of UConn's Department of Anthropology and Maritime Studies.

i find it fascinating that there really is an explorers club. like you see in movies haha!

It would be an interesting 17th century naval battle to game. Just the right size. To bad nobody makes 17th century French ships.

I think this era is more interesting than Napoleonics. The fleet battles were hard fought with wins and losses all around.
