Just a question for the plastics veterans, how do you you paint 1/700 hard plastic? Spray undercoat? Paint straight on?

I have a set of 1/700 buildings to do up and don't want to muck them up by doing things wrong.

This is what they look like (each square on the cutting board is 1cm).

Any tips much appreciated. Thanks,
Aaron

Enamel undercoat (I use humbrol matt white or matt ligt grey). Then paint using normal acrylic paint.

Nice buildings! Where are they from?

Thanks Major! Buildings are a Pit-Road SkyWave kit.

This is the box:

I'd just put a white undercoat and wash everything lightly. *Then* pick the details, if necessary at all.

Would you spray or brush on the undercoat, Brother Sev?

Thin the undercoat slightly and bush on would be fine. I do the same on my 3mm buildings with no loss of detail.

I own lots of these & primed them with white spray primer with no difficulty at all – just keep a light touch

they very look nice on the table & while I got them for my 1/600 Pico armor they work great for 1/285-1/300 micro armor as well

sadly they are out of production but you can find them pretty easily on Ebay – but they aren't cheap – there are other sets as well but they tend to be harder to find

Either a good white primer, or, like what I use these days, I use decanted Tamiya grey spray primer.

Thanks again folks, much appreciated!
