Not really. The barrel seems too long. And with a bore "a little over two inches in diameter", it is probably a 6-pdr, or at least a 3-pdr if we allow for a little editorial hyperbole.

The trouble with this being posted on a lot of forums is that not everything posted appears everyweere. I wouldn't give the caption too much authority – elsewhere in the book there is a photo of two infantryment firing Boys Anti Tank rifles captioned learning to use the bren gun – so the "a little over two inches in diameter" could be a red herring

Looks like a close match for the 3pdr L23 used on the Vickers 6 ton tank. 47mm is slightly under 2" so a slip on the art of the reporter transposing "under" with "over" is plausible.
