I am putting together a group of the Zvezda Russian 3 ton trucks in 1/100th scale. As with most Zvezda wheeled vehicles they are a bit fiddly and almost excessive detail for things like the suspension. I am having a difficult time installing the one piece hoods. Out of 6 installed none were easy and on two the hood split in half. Luckily, with clamps and super glue, was able to repair. Anyone crack the code on installing these easily? I have another 6 to go. Thanks! |

Bang you head into the table several times before starting, that way the assembly is not so bad seeming. Other than that I found those hoods to be a complete pain to assemble also. |

Sounds like it should be a factory job |

Maybe pressing on the lower part of the hoods while putting them would ease the work… |

They are just dreadful. Lots of scoring, bending and cursing works, or you just fill the engine compartment with milliput. Why they couldn't just mould them rounded like on the Opel I don't know. |

I agree Martin. Why they did them as one piece in a spread "M" is beyond me. I thought of just trimming the two tabs off but then would have to use clamps and super glue. The tabs, when inserted, hold the shape which keeps wanting to spring back. Glad to see I am not the only one with this problem. The shame is these are nicely done overall and can be found at a very reasonable price! |
