June 16th proved a fateful day for Napoleon. Ney and Reilly's Corps defeated Perponcher at Quarter Bras only to fight for their commands survival as the Anglo-Allied forces streamed in from the Brussels and Neville Roads. Picton and the Brunswickers were mauled but help long enough for Alton and Chasse to stabilize the situation. (AoE VP French 26, Allied 14, however the French only had 3 units of Infantry left) It was determined that Ney would consolidate and fall back onto Napoleon.

Meanwhile at Ligny, Napoleon delayed and probed until DeErlon and I Corps marched in on the West Flank at Wagnelee (die rolls determined that I Corps started toward Ney, then turned back to Napoleon for 4 turns in a row). With the arrival of I Corps Napoleon felt he had the strength to push for a decision, gaining part of Ligny, St Armand and Byre. Though the French pushed hard and inflicted numerous casualties on the Prussians the butcher's bell at sunset was in favor of the Prussians (AoE VP, French 39, Prussian's 40). This and the news from Ney, made Napoleon decided that to remain would only see the Prussians re-enforced by IV Corps and the Anglo-Allied Army and that the current field was not one to face them at. The march south through Charleroi was a grim one.

Pictures to follow (2 full days of gaming, 14 turns on 2 tables, close to 3,000 figures ready for play). Thanks to my Wife (letting me take over the living and Dining rooms, my Sons and their friend for giving me opponents. Ready to take this one to a Con and see how it plays!
