I snuck a look at my mate's Provost set and thought the horses looked pretty good. He must have the first boxes in Aus, maybe he'll do a review…. |

I have 2 boxes of the new Chasseurs, and they are a wonderful set. Building them is easy and there was not flash at all on the one box I have opened. The horses are pretty nice as well. |

I agree with Runicus – they go together easily and the heads look fine. No epaulettes for the elite company though! |

Does anyone know how similar the Warlord plastic French Chasseurs a Cheval are compared to their newly released French Lancers?? Does anyone know if the Perry's have dropped their plan of new plastic French Chasseurs a Cheval & Lancers?? Thanks James |

I can only hope the Perrys now have more sense. Plastic releases represent a huge investment in the tooling, but then you can turn out thousands, indeed, hundreds of thousands, before the moulds start to fail… but fail they slowly will. Compare Airfix early KGV or Repulse ships with ten years later (I still have both, unmade…sad really) (French) Lancers are just Chasseurs carrying long spiky sticks, with a different hat. Seriously…horse, saddlery, clothing below the neck….identical. They will be the same, but subtlety "different" and it shows great imagination to reproduce them. Well done! Perrys will do Norwegian Gendarmes d'Elite trumpeters or mounted Pioneers…of the Scandinavian Guard obviously….but not British Heavy Cavalry of 1815, in plastic, which would sell incredibly and we all cry for (OK I accept, it might hit sales of the metal range for some…but not for me) |

Thanks Deadhead. I had thought from previous TMP posts that Perry's were fairly close to releasing. I guess if none of us have heard anything more recently that would mean that less liekly. And you're right that Warlord's release would make them even less likely. To my more caual eye the horse furniture of French Chasseurs a Cheval and Lancers of the Line were pretty much the same. Guess that means at some point then I will be buying two boxes apiece. Thanks James |

Only the heads need changing, as far as I can see, to turn chasseurs into lancers. (OK right arm for front rank needs rethinking.) Horse saddlery/sheepskin etc identical Odd really, as I seem to recall French line lancers were converted from dragoons. Surely someone will do Plastic British Heavy Cavalry…….. |
