So there's now three released miniatures from the shieldmaiden range,

Top paintjobs from Paul Cubbin!

Yep they aren't smooth and sexy, they've had a couple of axes to the face and weathered some winters. They're hardass warriors, not pin ups. Out now! Great for slotting into dark ages warbands!

Terrific sculpts and paint job. A success in the "believable" department!

Nice! These two aren't armored, either, which is nice.

I bought one. They are way small, if it wasn't for the thick base it wouldn't make 25mm. And very delicate too. I actually broke the sword arm trying to glue it into place.

Perhaps it is just me. Or the 7 Pounds Sterling with postage for plastic, but I was disappointed.

I haven't held them so can't comment on the delicateness of the sculpts, but a female figure being less tall than the "25mm Man Tall" size would be ok I would think. What is the actual mm measure from foot to eyes and foot to top of bare head? And a side-by-side comparison with a male Viking, say from SAGA or GB would be interesting.

Sorry to hear that, if you pop me an email John I can send you a replacement. The resin is top quality but it isn't plastic, just needs to be handled accordingly.

Forgeworld actually do a good guide PDF link

As for size, Hervor and Freydis (28mm feet to eyes) are slightly taller than Lathgertha, (27mm from feet to eyes), they've been made with constant comparisons to both the older larger metal Gripping Beast as well as the smaller plastics and Crusader to make sure they work with all (as they are intended to be used alongside them)Also, people being of different heights.

When I get a chance I will take a photo of each lady alongside various dark ages manufacturers for comparison. Bad Squiddo Games/The Dice Bag Lady really is just me, so hopping about doing everything at once! (inc currently prepping for Phalanx)

Super quick picture, all I've got in my office at the moment is my Normans, better one to come after the weekend!

Are sure sure these are female minis? I don't see big boobs, stockings, high heels or chainmail bikinis.

Also – no greaves

Very nice looking minis – must get a few to shore up the Bondi

Cheers chaps :D

They look great. Perfect for women of the Eolingas in Lord of the Rings, too.

Another fuzzy comparison shot! (rushing around!)

I really like those. I'd order some but my kids college Bursar's office says no.

These are splendid. Very Icelandic to me. I am not a fan of resin at all, but I will make an exception for these outstanding sculpts.

Would prefer metal myself.. – I could cast them in metal if you need a metal caster?
