I am trying to find the answers to to a couple of questions relating to the Danish troops that fought during the Nine Year's War and the early stages of the Great Northern War. Firstly, did the dragoons wear the normal hat, or some variety of dragoon cap? I had assumed the former, but the illustration in Arnfelt's Ga Pa Army Lists vol. 2 shows the latter. Secondly, did officers in the grenadier companies of the infantry regiments wear the hat like other officers or a grenadier cap? Many thanks.

Thanks, there certainly is a lot of material on those sites, but I can't find these specifics. However, I think I have found the answer to the first question. The tacitus.nu website tacitus.nu/gnw mentions, in relation to one the dragoon regiments, that "Torstein Snorrason has made the assumption that the regiment wore traditional Hungarian caps ( instead of the tricornes I have depicted them with ) because most of the regiment consisted of Hungarians." I think this is what Arnfelt represents in his army lists.

Might be worth your while to sign up to LOA and ask directly. There is a fair bit of expertise there.
