That about sums up the adulation of the little Corsican, IMHO!

Contrast George Washington who, having led the USA to victory in the War of the Revolution and served two terms as President, resisted the temptation to compromise republican principles by becoming a permanent or hereditary head of state and retired from public life. He was truly a great man.
