Finally got my 3D printed Bedford QLD transport (I'll have three total) … I'm really happy with the result – amazing what we can get printed for our hobbies these days!

Pictures up on my blog: link

How many pieces did this have?

I am alittle confused on how something that is 3D printed looks like it is made out of plastic or resin. Explanation please.

I have two of these from when they were first being printed. My prints have the supports for the tilt/canopy. I also have the separate canvas canopies, which neatly fit over the supports.

Jay, what printing problems did you have to correct? The white material is a little rough, and I managed to break off a side mirror (repaired), but I like these models, and the detail all around is amazing.

@ Footslogger: The model prints completely assembled. It is in one piece, with a lone tyre as a separate piece. So, other than attaching the tyre to the storage spot, there is NO assembly, unless you also get the tilt, which can be left loose or glued onto the print.

@Disco Joe: The material is strong and flexible plastic. Prints options are rough or polished finishes. I have the rough finish, which is good for what I want.

Jay's blog has the following info, but here it is if you didn't go to his blog mentioned above: link

Hell's bells.

The New Order has begun.

What Condotta said :-)

I've got two more on order … when they get here it is onto the painting table (or rather, into the spraying station).

Because of the material, if you get one you'll notice a little bit (just a little bit) of wiggle with the tires/frame … this is just fine --- as wargamers/modelers we may panic as if this was plastic it would be in danger of snapping off … but the 3D material used it damn near liquid concrete … there is no danger of it snapping unless you really do a number on it.

Yup, the truck is one complete part with spare tire (canopy is separate). Assembly couldn't be easier!

For printing problems --- I contracted a 3D modeler to create this for me and upload it to Shapeways. Once I approved the 3D model I had to go order it from Shapeways … if they can't print it for some reason (rather, the try to print it and it gets messed up), they cancel the order and inform the 3D modeler (not me). I had to work with him on it --- rather, he needed to resolve printing issues with Shapeways himself. The real issue was the canopy "rails/frame" was too thin … once it was thickened up all was well … although I had planned from the very beginning to snip the canopy frame off sadly (so it got held up for no good reason) … but this was the first time I did this and I've learned a lesson about about what can hold up the printing process.

My drivers side mirror snapped as well … but was fixed very quickly. I didn't try to fit the canopy over the frame … neat that it fits!

Thanks, sotek486, for the additional info and for all of your efforts that culminated in this wonderful model.

This is really is a neat little model. My version is an early print and the rail supports are thinner than what appears in the current photo. I am not concerned in the slightest about them snapping.

The material is flexible and strong – well, other than that pesky mirror that my ham-fisted clumsiness snapped off first day as I reviewed the print.

You are most welcome :-) I actually very happy to hear someone else made use of them besides me – and funny enough you got them before I did! lol

You nailed it footslogger,

Nice model nonetheless.
