Yes, the classic fantasy skirmish system is not only still alive, but undergoing an update thanks to Our Man in Germany Sebastian Klapdor: metal-express.net
Sebastian has worked like a Fiend charging straight out of the Bladelands to investigate, playtest, and rekindle awareness of Bladestorm. He's done a splendid job to date chronicled on the Metal Express Forum's Bladestorm boards, and now Sebastian has created a FaceBook page dedicated to this classic fantasy skirmish system:
link Even if you're not a fan of Bladestorm, I highly recommend checking out Sebastian's tutorials on creating play aids for gaming and his step by step accounting (lots of good pics!) of his dedicated gaming table and splendid terrain on the Metal Express Forum's Bladestorm boards!
Come and enjoy the mayhem! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

PDF still available in the MX online store, and we *hope* we can put together a paper product release before we all die of old age… at least that remains our cunning plan and hope in equal measure, Bill… Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net

Gents, if you've got a minute or three to spare go read the Basic Rules. If it looks intriguing try out the Basic Rules and the basic scenario. If it grabs you, you can roll on from there. IMHO Bladestorm is a very fun game with loads of potential that for various reasons dropped off the radar. Our goal is to reintroduce it to old fans and new players alike. The beauty of the system is that it is the same core dice mechanics also used for Silent Death and our upcoming new sci-fi ground combat skirmish system. It's an elegant system that resolves shooting or melee attacks and the damage delivered in a single die roll. Check it out, and if it grabs you, the amount of time and resources you'll have to drop into it is far less cost and time intensive than a mass battle system, yet there's still plenty of scope for expanding the size and complexity of play within the framework of the entire game system. i wouldn't mind seeing a second edition of this game. I would love to see a few modifications done to the game. -Siege rules -More in depth mounted combat rules -War machines/Large beast rules such as war elephants or battle wagons -Maybe even some rules for ship to ship combat |

Landorl, I've passed on your requests to Sebastian to ruminate over and see what he comes up with. So far he's been doing a splendid job with bringing Bladestorm into the 21st century, so there's no telling what he'll come up with next… Stay tuned… Leland R. I have two original box sets and the monster book and have been working on an RPG – light mod for it, at my local club. Its a great skirmish game. It might not suit some folks as there is a bit of paperwork tracking of hits etc, but I really like it. A second edition would be great. Seems like it could be a good crowd funding/kick starter type project, if it needed cash.
The points system for self creations needs a tweak to simplify it. |

Goose, Sebastian IIRC has been addressing those issues; he refers to Bladestorm as "an unfinished symphony," and we suspect that he is just the Mad Genius of a composer to finish that little number… As the project moves forward we'll probably initially release it as a PDF product only, but with new internal art and materials including a more thorough listing of weapons, etc. than the original. I encourage you and your fellow Bladestorm fans to join us over on the Metal Express Forum; we welcome your participation and playtester feedback! Sharpen your blades and gird your armor I say! Come on in, there's plenty a troll to slay for everyone! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

That's great news. Glad to hear. I think it would be great to get a new version of it out there. I tried to sign up to the forums a long while back but if memory serves I didn't get the activation passed/unlocked. I will have a look again and see. |

I love this game. I've been playing it for years and I've been plugging away steadily on TMP to encourage other people to try it. :) |
