Are these moderns link also good for scifi because they don't look like Americans Russians British ect? Maybe with the rgp7 changed so it doesn't look so much like a rgp7? |

I think you could use them for near future/colonists/local defense force/low tech sci-fi. |

They would work as light troopers, militia, guerillas quite nicely. Who is say the RPG57 won't look a lot like an RPG7? |

But Modern does not have aliens … if it did … it'd be Sci-fi … And I'm all for Aliens as long as they are legal and from other planets … |

Tell that to those guys attacked in Vietnam, by aliens. ;-) |

I use Eureka modern Australians for scifi troopers. They look pretty futuristic (and are great, really sharp sculpts too) |

The US Army used the M1 helmet from 1942 until the 1980's. We still have M1 rifles and other WWII era weapons in storage, even today. So I think most present army uniforms and small arms have a lifespan of about 40 to 50 years, depending on the scenario you choose to use. I am sure if we needed to field a 12 million man Army like we did in WWII there would be soldiers today wearing the M1 helmet and carrying the M1 rifle. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

I just checked out Eureka modern Australians troops and i have to agree with Weasel that they do look very nice indeed, i wish i had known about them before i invested to heavily in some other manufacturers ranges. link link |

Yeah, the sculpts are super nice. They are a little on the small side of 15mm, but with scifi, that doesn't bother me so much. |

Try the Empress modern Australians and Peoples Republic of China figures. Excellent sculpts, though on the large side for 15mm (being 28mm!). |

Khurasan has said in the past that his DEVGRU minis have been bought by a lot of folks for use as scifi models. I'd be tempted to use K's modern North Korean infantry as soldiers from the Democratic People's Republic of Glory, a scifi nation from the Tomorrow's War setting. |

Khurasan's DEVGRU. They look really sci-fi to me. LIke the USCMs from Aliens in many ways but even more sci-fi than them. I would us them. |

Those Colonial Marines from Aliens were issued with pretty much Vietnam era uniforms, as far as I can tell, but slightly newer weaponry. Therefore, with either a little imagination, and/or some weapons swap outs, if you must, there are a wide range of possibilities for low to mid-tech forces. For my Planetary Defense Forces, I'm using Cold War era West German Panzergrenadiers. Of course, if desired, you could go with the more modern ones, if you like the looks of the G36 over the G3 rifle. They've got those nice, bit, RPGs, and Milan A/T missiles, for when you need a bit more punch. |

I think just about any mini can fit into science fiction with a few mods, paint and a little fluff to make it fit. A lower-tech militia, A regions traditional garb, heck, a couple of Zulu warriors could represent civilization that was bombed back to the stone age if you want. |
