Thanks for the summary. But I left ORIGNS feeling unfulfilled. Kinda like when you have a craving for some type of food and when you eat it….it doesn't hit the spot. I must say that I've felt the same way for a number of years. In fact, I haven't attended Origins since 2013. And even then, I just went for one day to shop and look around. Kind of sad, really. |

Nice readable summary. If I could offer one thought, it would be that I think this marks more of Origins returning to a focus on board games. I think card games really carried the show for a period. They were always off in the corner – but they packed in the people. It's looking like board games are returning to prominence. I've not been since 2011 – mostly due to other external conflicts than a lack if interest in going. |

Good summary. FWIW, the online print on demand badge system crashed on Wednesday when they first opened up. Line was backed up, and they had issues with tickets, and refunds and exchanges..plus they didn't the locations of any events on any of the tickets, etc…just in the program guide…. |

Can't say I agree with some of what Dave said. I put on 6 games during the show this year: 3 Napoleonic Age of Sail, and 3 Dead Man's Hand. My tables were full each time, and very raucous. I had a great time, and will go back and run games again. If you are looking for a Cold Wars/Fall In/Historicon type minis experience, Origins isn't it. While there some historical minis going on, there is also plenty of other genres besides that. As an example, my son played 36+ hours in the Battletech Grinder, and loved all of it. The con caters to all game types, not just what we historical folks like. I do not agree with the comment made on Dave's blog about how Origins doesn't seem to be welcoming to minis guys like me. My experience was nothing but positive, and they went out of their way to assist me with questions, table arrangements, etc. |
