I seem to recall that FOW has switched over to 1/144th scale, for all their aircraft (including WWII – used to be 1/100th), but just wanted to confirm that.

I'm interested in some of their Arab-Israeli jets.

So, are they 1/144th scale now, e.g. their Mirage IIIs and Mig-17s?

Have several of the MiG-17's for use in our Vietnam Games – they are 1/144.

Thanks for the info, and quick reply, JP.

I really appreciate it.

I don't see the point in reducing the size by that small ammount. If they are meant to represent aircraft waaaaay up in the sky, why not use (for example) 1/300th?

But if they're meant to be in scale with the figures, why not stick to 1/100th ?

Cost, I suspect.

I agree, and prefer 1/100th aircraft when using them to attack 15mm minis on the ground, but 1/144th isn't a bad compromise, I guess.

Size.

Look at how big the 1/100 scale Hueys are. Modern jets are BIG.

If you just want the jets, then why not just buy 1/144 kits or Japanese prebuilds, much cheaper than Battlefronts models even at their sale prices.

Mig-17s are a bit rare, and hard to come by in this scale, or were.

I got some from Czech. a while back.

Don't recall seeing 1/144th scale Mirage IIIs either.

Planning to use some for aerial gaming, perhaps, as well as for air support (East German), for my 1/144th scale T-54/55 battalion.
