Why is the village in a line, and looks like North to South – the map shows it a lot more spread out, and especially East to West. It was a desperate struggle through the village – this looks a good start, but more depth would be advisable

Marc,

I agree but looks like it will be a good game.

I'm also running a Plancenoit scenario tomorrow at the Bayou Wars convention. But my battlefield stretches from the Allied left wing down to Plancenoit.

Looks like a nice game, only a bit to flat, add some hills, Plancenoit is actually quite hilly or at least undulating.

Glad you like it boys.

Maybe this is not exactly how he is going to be distributed the buildings…?

Hi this was a game for my nephew and I from the GdB scenario, sorry if it does meet everyone's standards but we had a great time. My nephew and I are more into the the painting side of things however after a long lay off we are starting our GdB experience again. That was the final set up for the buildings, we set it up for the size if table in my loft we could manage and from the B/W drawing in the scenario.
Cheers

This is how it played out:

What terrific filming……the aerial shots took me back to Bondarachuk and his helicopter shots in Waterloo and earlier W and P.

Your pictures are better because you have not obscured everything with smoke. One can tell you take the painting seriously.

I doubt anyone meant to be critical. I know nothing of wargames and their rules but can imagine you had to allow for the footprint of each building to represent a complex.

Equally, I could see that buildings in a line facing you are easier to break through than the denser mass of Plancenoit. The film suggests you indeed had a great time and I'd recommend it to all. Worth a watch!

Thanks deadhead, it's just a bit of fun and doing youtube video is just for fun. Started the videos to help motive my painting and share our enthusiasm for Napoleonic wargaming. I know nothing about the real area of plancenoit (or any other Napoleonic battlefield) I wish I did, maybe in time. We had a great time and will continue with our efforts. I'll have a look around at what others do and hope to improve the terrain and historical accuracy if it fits our storage space and gaming area. Only got the tables the day before.
Thanks for the comments.

Cheers tango,
Glad you enjoyed it. The scenario States each built up area could hold 40 troops, no scale of the BUA given just that the smaller south sitting one to be at least 15cm from the main areas. We had great fun fighting it out and it let us see what troops we still have to paint. Buildings were painted the night before.

Paul, AMAZING effort and beautiful Calpe and Front Rank figures!
Wargaming doesn't get any better than this.
You've been painting even more than I have, all that Landwehr, 18 figures a battalion… KUDOS!

I love the line in your video; "the Chasseurs got their butts kicked by Landwehr cavalry!"

Great video and AAR. I would have brought in the Young Guard a lot earlier, but it is your game.

Thanks so much for posting!

Thanks Lord Hill and Wrgmr1,
We had a blast. For our start back into napleonic gaming we really enjoyed it. The figures are 18mm AB & Old Glory. The scenario we were playing allows the YG to come on when either the french brigade holding the village broke or the prussian occupied all 3 of the areas of the village. Yeah we can never have enough landwehr. The quest to paint Landwehr never ends.
Cheers
Paul
