20mm is the old school WWII scale. It works neatly with 1/72nd models and in a pinch 1/76 models. On the current WWII boards I never know if the topic is about 20mm or not.

We would really prefer not to be bothered with those who do other scales like 25mm, 15mm, 6mm or 2mm, etc. It is apparent that once a board is created it increases the interest in that topic.

If some of us want a board to talk about this subject, why should that be a problem? We should have our own board to do this. Talking about 20mm WWII with folks who uses other scales on the same board is unacceptable. Why shouldn't we have our own board to share our interest?

More boards, lovely …

20mm is the old school WWII scale. It works neatly with 1/72nd models and in a pinch 1/76 models.

1/72 and 1/76 are the model scales most closely aligned with the 20mm "size". I would say that 1/76 is closer to 20mm than 1/72. 1/72 is getting on to be 25mm really.

If some of us want a board to talk about this subject, why should that be a problem?

Not a problem. All you need are 50 supporters.

I thought we already have a 20mm WWII board…

That is a 20mm WW2 Models Review Board. ; )

I'm for a WW2 20mm Discussion board!

DS615111 Jun 2015 3:26 p.m. PST

We used to have a 54mm board, but then people whined and cried because we had too many boards.
Now we have incessant whining about wanting specific boards again.

No, no more boards. The ones we have are so spread out the content has thinned to a useless level.

I'm in for a 20mm board.
Or you can just visit The Guild.

PiersBrand11 Jun 2015 5:16 p.m. PST

Do we have to take him? ;)

Cyrus the Great11 Jun 2015 7:11 p.m. PST

Sure, why not?

As noted above, explain to me how WW2 war game rules are tied to a particular size of toy? If you want to talk about models and figures there is already a board for that.

But hey, go ahead, it'll only end up being cross-posted to the main board anyway.

PiersBrand12 Jun 2015 4:04 a.m. PST

Despite being the Goebbels of 20mm WW2 propaganda, I must say it seems odd to need another board just for it, when one already exists.

Or maybe Im missing the point… Which is also fairly likely.

nazrat12 Jun 2015 6:20 a.m. PST

This is all too silly (except for the "Just go to the Guild" suggestion). 8)=

I game in 20mm and don't see the need for an additional board.

normsmith12 Jun 2015 9:49 a.m. PST

I'm thinking the original poster is just having some fun. :-)

ITALWARS12 Jun 2015 12:13 p.m. PST

yes please…a dedicated 20mm WW2 board

deephorse12 Jun 2015 3:11 p.m. PST

That is a 20mm WW2 Models Review Board

True, but if you look at the topics posted they are often anything but reviews of 20mm models. So there's your board, right there waiting for you.

Lancer5813 Jun 2015 7:25 a.m. PST

Early war board, May to June 1940 now there's a thought, it works for me.

14Bore13 Jun 2015 8:43 a.m. PST

I want a 15mm Napoleonic board (snickers)

donlowry13 Jun 2015 9:18 a.m. PST

I don't see the need, but it would be nice if people would mention the scale in the headline of their post if they're discussing a particular scale -- save me from opening post that are of no interest to me.

spontoon13 Jun 2015 3:00 p.m. PST

I'd support a 20mm WWII board.

Frank Scala14 Jun 2015 10:02 a.m. PST

I support it

christot14 Jun 2015 12:33 p.m. PST

Oddly, I would vote no, but it's not actually up for vote fortunately.

I'm an old school WW2-gamer, and have been using primarily 1/87 scale ROCO since the late 70s. In more recent years of the internets age, have replaced all the old 1/76-1/72 that I had to use by default (cause ROCO didn't make them) with proper 1/87 new plastic kits and resin models ^,^

If you build it, they will come

Skarper24 Jun 2015 10:43 p.m. PST

Too many boards already IMO.

I would support a Vietnam board in the modern section but that was rejected.

Generally – if there are pictures I can tell the scale at a glance.

Though I prefer 20mm I don't mind looking at pictures of 28mm 'chunkies' or 15mm 'stubbies'. 6mm don't photograph very well but can still be interesting to look at.

As for rules they are not really scale specific whatever they say on the cover. Flames of War probably works best in 6mm from what I can see and a lot of skirmish games made for 28mm would be better in 15mm.

So it's a 'no' from me – FWIW.

yankincan24 Jun 2015 10:45 p.m. PST

I would lurk a 20mm board for certain!

Martin Rapier25 Jun 2015 2:57 a.m. PST

Is there any reason the supporters of a new 20mm WW2 board don't use the current 20mm WW2 board?

Last Hussar25 Jun 2015 3:52 a.m. PST

I use 20mm. DOn't want the board. I'd prefer all the narrow interest boards disappeared (rules and size specific, ESPECIALLY the rules ones).

spontoon29 Jun 2015 5:38 p.m. PST

Three cheers and a Tiger for Last Hussar! I want a 10 year moratorium on new wargames rules! Give folk a chance to learn the ones they already have.

wargamer1008 Jul 2015 1:05 p.m. PST

Yes to a 20mm WWII board from me

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP08 Jul 2015 2:57 p.m. PST

We used to have a slew of different scale boards for WW2.

But between 15mm and 20mm, the 2 of us who use 1/87 didn't have a board x,x

Simo Hayha08 Jul 2015 6:25 p.m. PST

game 20mm exclusively and do no want the board. there are other forums completely dedicated to 20mm. I agree with last hussar why are there boards for specific rules?

Old Contemptibles09 Jul 2015 10:30 p.m. PST

Holy Cow! I wasn't serious about this. It was just to point out how silly these boards were getting. I thought someone would call me out on this and see how ridiculous it sounds. Crap, it backfired. There should not be any boards for particular scales or rules.
