In your opinion, who makes the best WW2 15mm infantry and guns?

Thanks

john lacour10 Jun 2015 1:35 p.m. PST

peter pig.

Can't argue with John on this one. I was once painting a modern era PP fig and got confused at finding a jacket cuff at the wrist, because I otherwise thought the sleeves were rolled up. Then I realized it was a wristwatch.

Yep … Peter Pig …

For mass I like Old Glory, then fill in the specialists with Peter Pig.

Peter Pig is what I usually buy, though I really like the Battlefront guys too. They have kind of a chunky cartoon look that paints up really well.

Have to agree, Peter Pig.

Another vote for Peter Pig.

Most of my infantry is from the Old Glory/Command Decision line, about half of it. About 30% from FoW. 15% from Quality Castings. The remainder made up from Peter Pig and Legions East.
Price is a factor, as is the model itself. I find FoW tend to be larger than the others, and some are cartoonish in their pose and proportions. My access to Peter Pig and Legions East is only through the internets and has affected my purchases as well. OG/CD and FoW figures I have been able to get from brick and mortar dealers. I am more likely to buy something when I can hold it and see it first.
Almost all of my guns come from the OG/CD because of the size/scale, durability for gaming, and price.

i kinda like old glory, but some of the packs are just garbage, if you want to have halfway decent looking units.
mean to say, the OG 15mm us and german paras are just plain terrible. while packs like the russian inf and german inf are good. you really need to look at them before hand…

Weasel10 Jun 2015 9:32 p.m. PST

yeah, OG is kind of random.

The German infantry I have were okay but the moulds seem to be wearing out. The Soviet inf I have is really sharp and crisp.

For my World War Two I've mostly used Forged in Battle. I have infantry figures from their Early British, French, Early German and Russian ranges. I also have figures from Peter Pig for the Early British and Japanese. Side by side I would judge Forged in Battle to be superior. Forged in Battle is a bit rigid with their packs so I use Peter Pig to fill in the gaps.

Thanks for the support. That is very kind of you! Mostly new WW1 at the moment but some more WW2 on the way.

thanks

OG are great sculpts, but not all of the castings are good. They are a good price though!

I mix OG with Battlefront regularly. Peter Pig tend to be just a bit smaller.

Command decision, battlefront and of course peter pig. I mix them all quite freely in my units.

I have a few forged in battle and they are very nice too. PSC make collecting armies affordable for those on a limited budget and are very nice too, although they are a bit slight when compared to the metal models already mentioned, also of note, some of the infantry figures are multi part!!

The old PSC 15mm are slight… The new ones, as posted above, are much more chunky…

BeneathALeadMountain11 Jun 2015 9:39 a.m. PST

Peter pig for Infantry and crews etc, Battlefront for guns, tanks and stuff. Peter Pig heads for Battlefront mutants to help them better resemble people (not all but often). Plastic Soldier for Tanks aswell (the new chunkier infantry would be tempting as they are pretty and cheap but I've already got all my PP ones).

Wait for it……………………………………….Essex.

Yes, they actually make some, superbly sculpted, WWII figures. Wish they did more, actually.

john lacour12 Jun 2015 11:32 a.m. PST

not to get off topic, but in PIERBRANDS pic of PSC german inf, that zeltbahn is at least modeled correctly. they way it was worn, i mean.
i own several zeltbahn and i have seen figures wearing the garment wrong. if you look at, say the bolt action figures and sorry to say peter pigs german infantry in zeltbahn, the figures aare wearing the zelts UNBUTTONED. SO YOU SEE THE GARMENT HANGING IN A WEIRD, AND QUITE WRONG MANNER ON THE LEGS. THE ZELT WAS BUTTONED AND WORN LIKE A PONCHO.
sorry, caps lock. anyway, the psc german above is wearing it correctly.
