I'm not sure what period I want to game. Sci-fi and WWII interest me as well as the Civil War and Vietnam and terrorist/modern stuf as well. It needs to be 15mm, no larger than 20mm because of space and I would like something where I can start skirmish, say 5 on each side adn then grow it to platoon level. What I'm really looking for is a game system/period that I can pull out of the box, completely painted with some key terrain pieces and set down and play. building things makes me fidgity just thinking about it! |

The Sergeant's Miniatures Games. Expensive, but prepainted with board, cards etc. Solo game. Looked interesting. I would buy it but the price, for me, was prohibitive. |

Star Wars Heroclix figures, and various free rules, if you don't like the ones that come with the figures. |

Sci-Fi/other terrain, and Sci-Fi buildings are easy. A lot of people just use those little, white, plastic utensil organizers for the kitchen (sold at Walmart), as their buildings. If you want to get elaborate, but some black paper behind the oblong windows, and add a door for each "building". Styrofoam blocks make neat little Tatooine-esque structures. Add half domes to the top to make them look like the movie. |

Another vote for Sergeants Miniatures Game. link Everything you need to play comes in the starter box, and lots of different expansions are available, depending on what direction you care to take with it. |

Memoir 44 is a great game. Gears of war, doom, heroclix starter sets, heroscape, sedition wars, space crusade and many other miniature figure board games. The thing with miniature starter sets is they mostly need assembly and after a few plays more books , figures and accessories . |

Sergeants minis game looks awesome.. Do they have a solo module for it? I thought it wasn't solo capable? |

Sci-fi is very tempting. I do like the open design do whatever I want to the scenery approach. Very open ended that way. Plus I can use dinosaurs, aliens, other humans in space suits and oh my word, I'm getting excited about the potential. |

Sergeants doesn't have solo rules but the activation system makes solo play pretty easy to improvise. |
