I have a friend, who transforms whenever we play a game of Napoleonic's. He rants, throws dice, even if the flank he controls crush the opponent he is facing- he ends up not liking the game. Is there a game or period that you play under duress? |

Anything by Games Workshop. Does that count? |

Anything naval. I want to like ships, especially age of sail, but they just don't like me. |

Any of the massed-formation eras. I dont really enjoy trigonometry to begin with. I certainly dont want to spend my day calculating angles in order to legally engage the enemy "properly". Seems to me that if two opposing forces come into contact, there should be some fightin', regardless of the way they meet. Besides, I like firearms and the tactics surrounding them. |

Fire and Fury, Empire, and I can think of several others that will make me start swearing and foaming at the mouth of someone suggests we play with a straight face. |

Fire and Fury and Empire surely shouldn't occupy the same sentence; polar opposites in terms of complexity and design philosophy, I'd say. |

Oh Fire and Fury that does vex me no doubt. I will put up with GW stuff as long as it is just once and a while all the saving throws otherwise would get to me. |

Anything with zombies or post apocalyptic, or later than WWII. |

Johnny Reb, any version. Fire and Fury is a close second. |

Rapid Fire. I just can't stand to see trained infantryman bowled over Somme style as if they are marching on the enemy shoulder to shoulder. Also it would be nice to know which command level the player is supposed to be representing – are my 30 figures a platoon, a company, a battalion – it seems to vary! |

Never really liked DBA – my friends love it so I have to play a lot but it seems artificial and looks weird… |

I know a lot of people like General de Brigade but I am not one of them. Mostly I just hate how slow it moves, especially on a good-sized table with a lot of figures. |

Dungeons & Dragons and similar Fantasy RPGs – only play them because No 3 son likes them |

I probably am with your friend. I've little interest in just about anything Napoleonic, ACW, or WWI. And, I really rather ashamed for it; I recognize fascinating developments, heroic struggles, historic importance. And yet, I dread actually playing. Go figure. Doug |

I don't play if I am vexed by it. I volunteer to cover the miscelanea while the interested people play … getting pizza, cleaning up, putting away killed minis, policing where the dice are, handling the music, etc. I will particpate in the discussions as an uninvolved bystander, or occasionally in the role of affected persons not on the board (civilian populations). |

WRG 7th Edition Ancient rules. It was the only game in town for a while and nearly put off the hobby completely. |

Fire & Fury used to make me swear profusely, can't play it any more. Rapid Fire quickly came to be called Rapid Death in our group and so we moved on. |
