Here's a few pictures of what I have been painting up for my Next Generation Trek Gaming (using Full Thrust). The Klingons, pretty basic; yellowish green base hull, minimal decals. B'rel scouts (Studio Bergstrom), mounted on Corsec 30mm circle.
Kvort Battlecruiser (repainted Heroclix model)
Vor'Cha Attack Cruiser (repainted Micro Machines model)
Negh'Var Battleship
Federation: Many are Furuta prepainted ships, but I've been finding other ships on Shapeways that are useful. Galaxy Class (Furuta)
Nebula Class (Furuta)
Intrepid Class (Star Trek Attack Wing)
Excelsior (Furuta, series 3)
Steamrunner
I have more Klingon ships on the way (6 Ktinga), as well as Federation Norway, Saber, Ambassador, Miranda, and Akira classes to be painted up. When they are all done, I will do a lineup so you can more easily see the size comparisons. |

I've always thought my Furuta were too large to mix with other ships, but if you stick to big Next Gen, and that third series Furuta had smaller ships, they work damn fine. The Negh'Var is…? Bases make comparisons pretty good already, but looking forward to more ships! As Maltz said: Impressive! Doug |

THe Neghvar is from Ender at Starship Adversaries. They required a lot of clean up, and the detailing isn't quite as crisp as I'd like to see, but they are serviceable. And they are the closest match in size to my Galaxy class that I could come up with. |

I'd really like to base my ships similar to yours. Where did you get those? |
billclo | 11 Jun 2015 6:55 p.m. PST |
The stickers are something that I had a local graphics artist make for me, and I do sell them, as well as similar one for A Call to Arms Starfleet (they supposedly work for BFG as well). The physical base, some of them are are modified Mongoose ball and socket bases – Iron Wind Metals still sells them for $1 USD a piece I think. I cut the stem to 3/4" and thinned the tip of the stem to fit the ball on it – very tedious filing work, let me tell you. The rest are Corsec 50mm bases with 1" stems and small adaptors epoxied on. If you would like more info about the stickers, you can contact me at bill clo dude at com cast dot net. |

Where'd you get that negvar? Is it the attack wing model? |
billclo | 07 Jul 2015 2:49 a.m. PST |
I got it from Ender on Star Ranger/starship adversaries blog. It's a resin model. |

I got some of the studio bergstrom. I went with a more green grey than yours. How you got the decals on there I'll never know. Must have the patience of a saint. |

I ordered some of these, which I am using for Star Trek Federation Runabouts on Shapeways (they appear to be CBS-compliant as they are at least 20% different). shapeways.com/product/YLUC975N3/system-fleet-scamper-runners?optionId=57090530&li=ostatus You should get the Extreme Detail material; we are not sure if the detail will work out with the other material. They are $10.42 USD per sprue of 4 Runabouts. They look pretty good; I'll have some pictures later on after I paint some of them. I also ended up ordering a bunch of Federation Attack Fighters from the Star Trek Attack Wing game off of Ebay for $5 USD per 3 fighters since I could not find any other source. These guys:

I have a few of those as well, the price looks about as good as I got. Since they remind me a bit of Maquis ships, I may use them as groups of gunboats, as I tend to avoid actual fighters. Doug |

Yeah, I'm using the gunboat rules for the Fed Attack Fighters, and the Runabouts. |

Here are a couple of pictures of the primed Shapeways Runabouts (half sized) that I linked above:

Very nice! Hopefully I'll get to see some of these at a con some time! |

I had hoped to get things ready for Fall-In, but the way things have been going (steadily but not as fast as I'd like), it'll be dicey. Miniatures-wise, I could probably be ready for Fall-In, but not sure as to if I can play test it well enough – I have basically no local group, and I can scrounge up one new guy once in a while, and that's all. I really ought to try to grow more opponents at the game store in MD. It's just a lot of work organizing, advertising, and hoping someone shows up. :) |

Here's the finished Runabouts. I wish I could have found some decals that would fit such tiny miniatures, but I didn't have anything that wasn't way too big.

I got one of the eaglemoss vor'chas a k'tinga from shapeways and a k'vort that was part of a model set. I'll get pictures put up soon but I'm pretty happy with them. The scale is a little off but thru look decent. |
TheIronPrice | 25 Jul 2015 3:02 p.m. PST |
Further research shows that the k'tinga should be closer to the b'rel than to a vorcha. Oh well. |

TheIronPrice, What size are you using as your baseline/what scale are you looking to do? It's really hard to get ships that are a really close fit to what I'm doing, but I do the best I can. I had to buy a Steamrunner about 1/2" shorter than I really wanted because I couldn't find anything closer, and I couldn't find any ship designers who'd rescale it for me. I finally found a designer who would rescale larger ships to what I wanted, and he rescaled a Norway for me, but I should have a) made the Norway a little larger, and frankly it's a design that doesn't look like it has the same "bulk" as the Steamrunner. I had intended to make the Steamrunner and Norway the same mass for my Full Thrust games, but I decided to reduce the Norway a bit in mass to be closer to the miniature. What a pain in the butt. |
TheIronPrice | 26 Jul 2015 2:58 p.m. PST |
Ah. It's a custom campaign using BFG rules but I've got gw produced ships, shapeways bfg ships, then I threw some firestorm armada ships in there and now I'm adding star trek ones. So I'm not really using a single scale beyond "that's a light cruiser and it shouldn't be bigger than a battle cruiser." It's a mess and my enthusiasm for getting and painting ships has over run practical concerns. I need to sit down and write out fleet lists and settle on a scale. |
