Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) & the San Antonio Bolt Action Group (BAG) 6 June 1944/2015 D-Day tournament:

25 members of the group met up on 6 June 2015 in San Antonio TX at Dragon's Lair to honor those who fought 71 years ago and play some Bolt Action with a Operation Overlord themed event. We had 11 Allied (USA, British and Russians) and 11 Axis (Germans, Hungarians, Spanish and Japanese) players. Each participant brought 1,250pts. Each table was setup to represent some portion of the battlefield (the beach landing, villages, bridge, countryside). Russell Pickett built a beautiful model of the Normandy beach terrain and Rob Gravener provided some very nice town, bridge and French bocage terrain tables. Each game was fought separately with the total points added together to determine which side won. There were some great battles fought using the Warlords Battleground Europe source book.

Two American and one Russian allied player hit the beach assaulting the Normandy coast. The defenders included two German and one Hungarian player. It was a hard fought battle but in the end the allies were thrown back into the sea. The British attempted to take a bridge similar to Pegasus bridge, but in the end failed to overcome the German defenders. Spanish troops were successful defeating the Americans fighting over a French village in the bocage countryside. The Sainte-Mère-Église fight ended in a German victory also. The allies managed a couple of wins, but not enough to turn the tide.

Everyone had a great time playing, Will Easton put on a wonderful event, and Dragon's Lair San Antonio was a great host as always. Also a big thanks goes out to those companies that supplied prizes for the event. The group is already looking at a Russian Front scenario for the next tournament / game day.
