link Anyone have more of an explanation? I guess Sigmar is coming back himself? |

My guess is that this is the WHFB 'reboot' that's been discussed here and elsewhere. -Will |

It's an easy explanation…stupid. |

There was a rumor that there was going to be a stand alone board game for Fantasy in the vein of the assassin game they released for 40k. |

Present best guess is that it'll either be three scalable rules etc rebooting the wfb world or a single system doing the same; either way focusing on skirmish level gaming re the than massed battle. There is so much speculation tho you can choose your own adventure as it were. Better to wait til 4th July when pre-orders go up. |

I hope they don't change it too much, I just started to play and am starting a Ogre army. |

That is just naïve, Royal Liz. Forcing players to rebuy over and over is the business model. Why let you (and everyone) buy one set of rules when they can alter the game every 18-24mos or so to force everyone who wants/has to stay updated to buy rulebooks all over again. Then change the army book for Ogres (and every other army) every so often to also force buying updates. Make units and characters suddenly obsolete/non-playable (with new rules/army book), and introduce new units that MUST be bought to have a half-chance of actually winning (with the new rules/army book.) Voila! Constant revenue stream! You (and your gaming buddies) are better off financially (and assembling an army list you *want* to play) by declaring you'll stick to one version of the rules no matter the updates. |

Just a way for GW to get more of your money. |

What Mardaddy says, which is not to say 9th ed/AOS might not be a great game in its own right, but you can choose to ignore it and just stick with 8th. Personally for fantasy massed battles it's been almost exclusively Kings of War these last two years anyway so a skirmish reboot of warhammer may sit in a worthwhile niche… |

Alas, ninth looks to continue the slide away from a game about armies to a game about monsters and superheroes. I suspect the reality bubbles theory is right. After the destruction of the old world each of the gods who were strong enough to shelter some of their followers have held together a little part of the world amidst the maelstrom that is chaos. These bubbles bump and jostle, joining occasionally allowing raids and battles. |

Personally, I find the whole thing to be a pile of tripe. It's a silly way to "end" the Old World. I wish I had more like-minded players around me who prefer 6th edition Warhammer… |

Maybe GW will finally reveal that Sigmar is one of the missing Primarchs from WD40K… |
