As I was rummaging through boxes of old wargaming figures I stumbled across a bunch of 28mm AWI figures. At first I thought they may be Front Rank or Redoubt but neither of those list Hessians and there are Hessian Grenadiers in this lot. On the bottom of the base are marked with W and a number such as W35 or W58 and the horses are marked with AW02 or AW03. I would guess they were purchased by my son I around 8 to 10 years ago. I have over 150 of these figures. Does anybody have any thoughts? |

Front Rankv DOES have Hessians in the AWI range. link See if the pictures help. One clue about Redoubt AWI. If they are horribly ugly, they might be Redoubt. If you don't want them, I'll take them. |

Front Rank does make a Hessian grenadier – code AWB42 (they are listed under "British/Provincials/Germans"). However, the codes on the bases and horses don't sound like theirs; nor do they sound like Redoubt. Redoubt have been re-sculpting their AWI range; the original one was indeed ugly with a capital "U", but the new stuff is better even if it is not up to Perry/Fife & Drum standard (and also more compatible in height with other 25-28mm AWI ranges). Just a thought, but could the "W" be a stylised "H"? If so, they might be Hinchliffe. |

Here is a link to Flickr for an image of one of the British infantry figures: flic.kr/p/tsE2vR flic.kr/p/upv54M Perhaps this will help. SM, it's definitely a W unfortunately but thanks for the idea. |

I concur – original Redoubt for sure. link |

And we have a winner! The numbers match up as the one I photographed matches the description with the number on the base. Thank you folks for your help. It's much appreciated. |
