"Sometimes a bolt pistol won't cut it. Neither will a bolt gun. Sure, it essentially fires out little rockets, but they're little rockets. Sometimes you just need a weapon that can put a hole the size of manhole cover in even the thickest armor and then cause whatever you just shot at to explode spectacularly. That's when the really heavy weapons come out, and when you form groups of psychos crazy enough to fire these weapons in one place, you get Devastator Squads. And GW's taking pre-orders for the new version of them. As always, the kit comes with something like a hundred thousand ways you could potentially arm your little mans. There's two of each heavy weapon (Grav-Cannon, Missile Launcher, Multi-Melta, Lascannon, Plasma Cannon, and Heavy Bolter), as well as 15 different weapons to arm your sergeant (just pick something you might want him to have and chances are pretty good the option's in there). There's also various various extra helmets, legs, hands and arms, plus pieces just for accents like purity seals or spent shell casings…"

Not at the price that they want them for. Plus not liking the Missile Launcher. |

I just don't know how to handle the weirdly muscular robo-baby. I just… what? |

Weirdly muscular robo-baby is the best. It's trying so hard to fly! I do like the reinforced leg armour as well. Too expensive for me, but that's modern GW for you. |

I'm not paying that. If I really, really wanted a Devastator Squad, I'd get out some of my spare parts and convert marines I have already. They can keep the freaky baby thing (that's the polite version). |

Oh wow, I didnt notice the legs until you mentioned it. Scary Robots ate my Puppy, I know this will not help, but the price is not just for 5 models. You get 12 Heavy Weapons… so you can get a cheaper tac squad and arm them up as devstators as well. |

I'm a sucker for Grav-Cannons, but I'll pick up just those bits on Ebay for a tiny fraction of the cost of the whole set. |

That is a pretty impressive collection of heavy weapons there. It is nice that you are finally getting enough to make useful devastator squads as the one pictured isn't really ideal. I always liked making devastator squads up of heavy bolters and missile launchers or missile launchers and lascannons. With those it seemed like you had a pretty good range. The best were the all plasma cannon devastator squads though, they were pretty fragile but certainly packed a punch against marines and the lighter armed vehicles. |

The rocket shooting out of the missile tube is long overdue. |

I am with you jpattern I am just going to grab the Heavy Grav Cannon bits off of eBay considering how good of a weapon it is. What kills me is that they finally release a box with 2 of every heavy weapon but only 5 bodies in the box. |

What kills me is that they finally release a box with 2 of every heavy weapon but only 5 bodies in the box. This is not "new". The last box set did the same thing, it just didn't have the gravguns. This is a major improvement over the metal versions where they just had the guys with one of each weapon, and not even the good ones.
Also the missile being fired is a separate piece. For those complaining about it, just leave it off. (why am I defending GW?) |

Maybe you find yourself in the unenviable position of defending GW because you're tired of the same individual coming on whining, sniveling, crying, complaining and endlessly proclaiming every time there's a new GW post, that they hate nearly everything GW makes and will never buy their products. And yet, said individual won't just go away and leave the rest of us alone. But that it's just my guess … ;) |
