I see a lot of painted miniatures for sale on Ebay from a painting service in China called wargamelady. I was just wondering if anyone has ever done business with her and what the results were. Her 15mm Napoleonic figures appear to be AB, but when I asked what type of figures she uses she acted like she didn't understand the question. (Legitimate language barrier or avoiding the question?) This leads me to wonder if this is an example of a foreign company or individual who is pirating figures. I certainly don't want to do business with them if that is the case. Anyone have any insights on this company, or other Chinese sources in general? Thanks. |

In 2013 I bought some 15 mm AB Austrians. They were to go with others I had painted myself. When they arrived they were very well painted, but looked a bit small. I compared them to the AB's I had from Eureka USA. They were noticably smaller. My assumption is they were recasts from originals and the usual 10-15% volume loss with cooled metal shows. The seller still sells on Ebay, but not sure if things have changed in two years. I have not done repeat business with China! |

Yes, there seems to be a factory (or factories) in China, churning out pirated AB Figures and other models. There are a few previous threads on this topic. The moral of the story is: Don't touch AB Figures originating from China or Hong Kong. |

I believe we had a thread last year about the suspected use of pirated AB figs coming out of China. |

Okiegamer, I can confirm that any figures coming out of China that look like AB are pirated. Wargamelady26 is the biggest culprit, but there are at least three other e-bay names (they may well all be the same person/factory, selling pirated AB. The pretending to not understand the question is deliberate.I have asked the same question many times, in an attempt to get a confession, but they are wise to the tactic now. Before anyone asks, yes I have informed e-bay, and yes they have given me the run around and not answered my registered mails, e-mails or phone calls. Nic EUREKA MINIATURES |

eBay's policy seems to protect the buyer, yet it does not seem to be the case here. Guess if your paying enough fees they look the other way. Can't believe they allow this to happen again and again. Guess the old saying goes " Money talks b@lls##t walks " holds true more often than not. |

Piracy is nothing new to us when it comes to bad actors in China. The original masters for our twelve plastic Core Ships were copied without consent by the Chinese plastics company and have been sold ever since through U.S. Toy Company and other retailers on EBay:
Insult to injury came recently with a new batch of hard plastic pirated copies of some of our Core Ships again being sold through various EBay sellers:
Like Nic, our attempts to have EBay and U.S. Toy Company even respond to us have gone nowhere.
Guess the old saying goes " Money talks b@lls##t walks " holds true more often than not. Except for the fact that the real b*** here is the pirates getting away with their piracy because some corporations don't respect the IP of smaller businesses who cannot afford a fancy corporate law attorney to fight on their behalf in a foreign court.

In support of AB, I have submitted a complaint to ebay about the figures pirated by the Chinese and listed on their site. As a manufacturer, it was the least one could do. I urge you all to do the same. Cheers, Tumbleweed The Viking Forge |
