The new version of Operation Squad is now available in pdf format on wargamevault.com The additional lists are also available for free… link Operation Squad Evolution is the new edition of well know Operation Squad. Operation Squad was written to help simulate heroic events, but after four years of success with that game we wanted to publish a new version which includes all the experience gained in the meantime, and also during the development of our other successful games like Assault Platoon (platoon level gaming), Wild West Chronicles (Far West) and Centuria (Ancient Battle). Thanks to many of your suggestions and some newly developed and tested game-mechanics, we've moved a step ahead. The rules are deeply rooted in the old system but are now more streamlined and more faithfully represent the situations that characterise fire-fights between smaller units, where the loss of even one man makes the difference. This is also the reason why we've simplified our rules for Vehicles that are now more balanced and playable. Just like our other games, each game of OS EVOLUTION sees you fighting a scenario with a set objective – the side that reaches their objective in the given number of turns will be the winner! The battles cover all theatres but are mainly set between 1943 and 1945. Each player can command a Squad of men from the American, British, Russian or German armies and each army can call upon regular units, elite units and special teams, while the points values provided will allow you to play enjoyable, balanced games. In order to help you learn the game faster we've separated Sections and Vehicles (which deserve their own chapters) from single models; after learning the basic rules you'll be able to play with Sections and enrich your Squads with new Units. The last step will be learning how to use vehicles to make your games even more epic! Lead your squad into glory! This time you're the Squad leader… Thanks to some easy and intuitive rules you can now simulate heroic encounters set in the Second World War. We have included lists for American, British, Russian and German armies; there are a total of twelve to choose from, including Red Devils, Fallschirmjägers, Rangers and Commandos! Each weapon has been given a points value that means you can play balanced yet historically accurate scenarios. The use of charts has been reduced to a minimum and the whole game system is based on adding or subtracting the rolls of six-sided dice. These rules contain three standard scenarios covering typical missions such as reconnaissance, taking a town and rescuing a spy. So what are you waiting for? It's time to show your bravery on the battlefield! |

Has anyone played this yet? I am looking for small scale actions not large battles and the description seems to fit the bill. Edit: Also, I am looking for a simple army list. Sometimes the details can be overwhelming. |

The game is quite simple, you place the order and the enemy can react… Regarding the list you can download free. The games is played at 700 points Example "Massimo won the initiative and says that he wants his Fallschirmjäger (Tactical Value 4), to fire at an American Paratrooper (Tactival value 4) who is moving down the road. Giorgio reacts by declaring that his model will Move Fast out of sight around the corner. Massimo counter-reacts by declaring that his Panzergrenadier Sergeant (TV5) will fire at the same man. Giorgio passes. Both players roll 2d6 for each model and add VT for Priority. Massimo's Fallschirmjäger gets a 10 and his Sergeant a 12. Giorgio rolls an 11. It's time to execute the Actions. Massimo's Sergeant fires first. If the American Para survives then Giorgio will move him into cover rendering the Fallschirmjäger's Action useless – he won't fire at all. All three models get a Turn Over marker to remind the players that these models can't do anything else this turn. Remember that once you have declared your intentions you can't change them even if, like in the example, it becomes impossible to execute them. Fire: The Roll to Hit is performed by rolling 3d6 and adding the model's Tactical Value (TV) and the weapon's range modifier. Then you will subtract modifiers for cover, characteristics and the Actions performed (e.g. Move Fast). Range: The Weapons Table shows the range in centimetres and also the modifier that is added to the basic Roll to Hit (3d6) at that range. If a range is "NE" this means that you can't fire this weapon at this range. Rate of fire: This is the number of Rolls to Hit that the weapon fires at the target. EXAMPLE: The Mg34 machine gun has a Rate of fire of 6 so it can perform 6 Rolls to Hit. All rolls will add the TV, the range modifier and add/subtract all dice required by that type of shot. Fire: For each Roll to Hit performed, check to see if the shot has hit and the damage that has been inflicted. Add the dice roll (3d6 + model's TV + weapon range modifier) and subtract the total of the "penalty" rolls (target, cover, Actions etc.) to find the Final Result. Check the Damage Table to see what has happened. The penalty dice are rolled by your opponent. Damage: Every shot fired (each Roll to Hit) gives a Final Result; the higher the difference the more damage is inflicted: DAMAGE TABLE • If the Final Result is 10 or less then the shot misses and no damage is done. • If the Final Result is 11, 12 or 13 then the target model is Shaken. • If the Final Result is 14 or 15 then the target model is Wounded. • If the Final Result is 16 or more then the target model is put Out of Action and is removed from play. |

Hi there. Anyone knows if the rules can be purchased as a physical copy? I do prefer it to the PDF. Thanks for the help. Regards |
