I am going to commit TMP heresy right now and say right out that we had a very good and fun game last night playing EMPIRE!
Yes. Empire V.
The scenario was designed so that the layout and victory conditions assured that we all get involved and fighting from the start.

Now, let's face it. Do you really need to consult charts if you roll a 12 with 8 Veterans firing? No you don't.

I had a French division trying to reach the bridge, closely followed by the Muscovite horde.

I am not going to write a detailed AAR because quite frankly I find them boring.
Suffice it to say that we all knew what we were doing. Use good historical tactics and you will be rewarded. Or not, depending on the dice.

I held out a lot longer than I expected I would. I had good talks with friends. I drank some beer and petted the dogs.
When my command finally broke and ran, I knew I had bloodied the Russian nose.

So if you feel the need to stifle or ignore me because I did not die from playing a game you can't stand, go ahead.
But I remain defiant, and intend to enjoy my next game too!

Btw, our next game will be either GorkaMorka or Flames of Liberty as a backup. I defy anybody who has played Flames of Liberty to have a bad word about it.

I might add that I do not own a copy of the game, nor do I own any figures.
I do know that the guys with green cords on their hat (shako???) are probably my skirmishers. I think.
But that's the way our club is structured. Mark and Lou only have to bring themselves and don't have anything to do with the design of the next few games.

Next up: Chef de bataillon? :-) I would love to see updates of both.

Interesting scenario idea. We still have a vibrant and enthusiastic Empire group. Recently completed our Waterloo refight. Right now I'm finishing my 1806 Prussians for some early in the Empire fights.

Heretic! Heretic! I've got pitchforks – bring your torches. Time for a good old angry mob!

Sounds like a good game…
