I just returned from my second day at the Warlord Game Days event in Oklahoma City and found it to be a great success. There were several groups running games set in various wars (World War II, World War I, Roman vs. Celts, English Civil War, Thirty Years' War, US Cavalry vs. Indians). Everyone seemed to be having a great time. And although I didn't play any of the games, I visited a number of the tables and everyone was happy to allow me to watch. In addition, the first night the Warlord Games group hosted a number of us at the 45 Division museum, which was really a first class facility. I have toured the Patton Museum at Fort Knox a number of times and the 45 Division museum was just as impressive. I would also like to note that the Warlord Game's team are an excellent group of guys and were dedicated to insuring that everyone had a good time. John has done a really good time organizing this event and the session that Andrew ran today telling us about the upcoming projects at Warlord Games was very informative. The Warlord Games group also provided us with a really neat pack of goodies that included some interesting plastic Warlord Games figures and a special metal figure that looks a lot like Brad Pitt's character from Fury. I look forward to returning tomorrow after Church and enjoying the afternoon session. I have a few miniatures entered in the painting competition and I am hopping I do well. But even if I do not, I have really enjoyed the event thus far and I have been impressed with the other entries in the painting contest. If anyone is in the Oklahoma City area tomorrow then I would suggest that you stop by. The event is held at the Reed Center in Midwest City.

They were using house rules based on Bolt Action. The scenario was one that pitted the Germans against the Americans. Since there was so many miniatures used in the scenario, the rules were also modified to speed things up a little. They did this by randomly activating more than one unit at a time (at least that was my understanding -- please understand that I have never played Bolt Action as the World Wars are not really my fields of interest).
