The Aethersteel SciFi Wargame Kickstarter has launched. "O2 Games is proud to announce the Kickstarter of Aethersteel. Aethersteel is a 28mm minatures game that combines aspects of a wargame with those of a card game. This unique combination has produced a game that is easy to learn and yet provides a wide range of strategic options to the player. The game is set in a lore rich universe in which gods, known as Aeons, have created mirror copies of the same world. On these worlds they have each populated their own copy with a race that is their own image of perfection. The game makes use of unit reference cards to keep all important information at the player's fingertips. There is no need for codices or force books, as the cards contain information for both gameplay and army construction. Unit equipment can easily be upgraded by swapping cards without swapping models…"

Unique? Hardly. Malifaux was the first minis game to use star cards and playing cards instead of dice, and Relic Knights also uses unit statcards with a deck of cards to determine combat results. Can't say I like the models pictured, either. |

I ran into these folks at Origins. They were very pleasant. Their figs and game look nice in person. I really like the little round floating Skirmish Bots. I'm in for a unit of the little round dudes! |

Hey gang, I thought you might be interested in looking a little deeper into the game and what makes it unique. Paly Better did an indepth look at the game and then sat down with our two lead designers to talk about the game, game design and the future of tabletop wargames. Check it out if you get a free moment. link |
