Harrison Ford although I thought Ben Afleck did a great job in The Sum of all Fears, my favourite film in the series. |

Ford probably has the advantage of having done more than one film, so the opportunity to develop the character more. |

What actor best portrays my perception (I, who rarely attends movies anymore,) of a fictional literary character? I have read some of the books but not seen any of the movies. I like Harrison Ford as an actor so I will vote for him. |

I REALLY like Red October, in spite of their using vowels for consonants. I was less taken with any other of the movies, and I've only seen a couple. The books cover a fair space of time, no? I'd have no one vision of Jack. Of course, you also have to throw in, of Clancy's fiction, I've only read the two Red's… Doug |

Clear and Present Danger was one of my favorite books, and I think Harrison Ford did an excellent job of bringing the Jack Ryan character to the screen. |

Definitly Baldwin as he set the tone for the character on-screen, but most definitly not Afflect. P. |

Ford and defiantly not Affleck. I wish Ford was in all of them. I buy all my cars at Harrison Ford. |

Bord. Or Faldwin. Baldwin was terrific in Red October; can't imagine anyone else in that part in that movie. Likewise, I thought Ford was great in Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games. |

Baldwin was really good in Red October. While Ford was also very good in Patriot Games, he was really too dang old for the character. Remember that Patriot Games was the first book chronologically in the Jack Ryan stories, set BEFORE Red October. Kinda pathetic complaint, but I find it jarring. |

Baldwin was great plus at the time fit Jacks age. |

Baldwin, definitely. I saw Red October after having read the book and thought Baldwin captured Ryan perfectly. |

Toss up between Ford and Baldwin. Both good actors. |

Honestly, Ford was a bit old, but I thought he caught the role a little better than Baldwin…. |

Unless he is in 15mm, I dont care |

Baldwin did a great job "Red October". It is the only film in the series that I took the trouble to add to my collection. I think the next best was Affleck in "Sum of all Fears". |
