I am working on a 1:300 scale Aeronef game and need flight stands that can show altitude. The models are too big for those radio antenna style. So I was thinking Lego.

I know I can buy Lego by the brick, but I'm wondering of there's a cheaper alternative? A sort of "Lego knock off" I could use in either clear or light blue?

mega block?

The thing I have found with other blocks like mega blocks is that they come apart easily. If you don't want your flight stand to come apart while in use, then stick with Lego. you will get what you pay for.

What are those things?

They look like clear plastic storage jars.

I think some of the big box stores, think Wal-Mart, carry these in the Sporting Goods department by the fishing supplies.

Google Image Search is my friend: link

Looks like prices are all over the place, so be careful to look for the best price. link Some versions appear to be very poorly made, though: link

Actually, I suspect not, Mark.

Ours have been used to support very large model aircraft, up to 1/48th scale, as well as die-cast metal minis (Titanium Star Wars and Battle Star Galactica fighters).

The trick is in selecting the appropriate size of bases to use. I normally recommend our 4" base. They telescope from 7" – 22" in height.

Of course, I have no idea how big your 1/300th scale Aeronefs are, so……

See below, the Topgun Dogfight Flight Stands, with 4" bases (we sell a 5" base too, for even more stability) and 1/144th scale aircraft. The B-17 has about a 9" wingspan.

I can ship you one, if you want to test it out, to see if it meets your needs, and are willing to pay for the shipping charges. Obviously, if you don't want it, I'd ask for you to pay for return shipping as well, but they're pretty lightweight, so shipping shouldn't run too much.

Let me know if you are interested.

Regards,

Rob
