In addition to being a wargamer, do you also play chit-and-map boardgames set in the Napoleonic period? |

I am not currently playing boardgames but I have played a couple Napoleonic games in the past. Why do you ask? |

Yes. Napoleon's Triumph is one of my favorite. And those who play board-wargames are also wargamers :p Pendatic I know. |
basileus66 | 03 Jun 2015 11:28 p.m. PST |
Yes, I do. Mostly Kevin Zucker's OSG games, although also Clash of Arms' La Bataille series. |
DontFearDareaper | 03 Jun 2015 11:51 p.m. PST |
Many moons ago I did. The old SPI Napoleonic series was a favorite of mine. Gave up chit and map when I discovered the wet, wild, and wonderful world of historical miniatures |

Last one I played was Avalon Hillīs War and Peace back in the 80s. I much prefer 3D. |

No but I sometimes think I should – have had a Borodino game since the 70's … |

Does Command & Colors count? Haven't played a Napoleonics boardgame for years, otherwise. |
CaptainDarling | 04 Jun 2015 2:44 a.m. PST |
I'm not averse to board war games they have a convenience that miniatures games don't have… Yaquinto's Borodino would be my favourite from the Napoleonic period… |

Here's a new simple one getting raves: link And a much bigger game that doesn't seem too complex: link I'll soon be playing the 90's version of Napoleon's Last Battles, but using this variant: link |

Not recently, but I just bought Morale Napoleon and plan on collecting 3/6mm miniatures in near future. |

Yes, La Bataille series (I have all but one) and some of the older AH and SPI titles as well. AH Waterloo is an all time favorite. It's rather simplistic, but it holds nostalgic value for me as it was one of the first war games that my Dad used to introduce me to the hobby. |

Yes. - Napoleon. The Waterloo Campaign. – The clasic block game. - Age of Napoleon. – Card driven game of the whole era. Yoe see, i like the games that handle aspects of the napoleonic war, that arent playble with miniatures. |

I somehow never got into the battlefield games, although I did play the grand campaign type games – the exception being that the classic "Napoleon" block game is a favorite. I'm actually in the process of selling off my collection of Kevin Zucker OSG games and a few of his earlier titles by other companies, many of which are still unpunched after all these years. |
Rich Trevino | 04 Jun 2015 4:50 a.m. PST |
Some play Napoleonics on a hex grid. Here's a playtest by Norm Smith of his rules, with the download link at the bottom of the page. link |

If you have time and at least 3 friends/mates and as many as 6 give "Empire in Arm" a go. With it's Income, army build, supply and the battle system you feel like your playing a wargame as well. Over the last 20 years we have played the full campaign (1805 to 1815)about 6 times, your not aloud to play the same nation twice. The game is left set up in the club and played on every other Thursday. The last time we played it was played for over 2 years. |

I play board wargames frequently but except for C&C I haven't played any Napoleonic ones in a while. |

The board games "Wellington", "Kutuzov" and "The Napoleonic Wars" are OK and if your looking to fill a few hours they are not over taxing on the mind. "Eagles" the 100 days card game work best with the bigger engagements and is fun to play. |

C&C: Napoleonics. Just bought Napoleon at War and have the Borodino computer game from John Tiller Software (chits on a PC basically). Plan to purchase more someday as well. |

A bunch Kevin Zucker's opeational level games (just this February I finished soloing the full campaign in the latest edition of Napoleon at Leipzig), picked up War & Peace recently, learning La Bataille, and next week I'll pull out L'Armee du Nord for the 200th anniversary. @Rich Trevino: Yes, Markus Stumpter's NLB variant rules is the best! I prefer it way over Zucker's standard rules for the OSG games now. |

30 years ago I did. Sometimes. I read a review in an old S&T of a Napoleonic wargamer's guide which included uniform data. The reviewer sputtered in outrage, "But this has nothing to do with wargames!" |

Once in a while I organize a multi-player game of The Napoleonic Wars by GMT. It's an excellent game, has nearly infinite replay value, and simulates the war at a level that miniatures don't. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from painting miniatures to replace the TNW counters… - Ix |

As a youngster played Ney vs. Wellington: Quatre Bras that I enjoyed, and a little SPI game called Battle of Waterloo which was mildly entertaining. Owned War & Peace, but it was such a huge game at the time that not much came of it, perhaps I'll make a return vsit some day. More recently I've played Command and Colors, and bought a copy of Napoleon at Bay that I'd like to give a try. |

On occasion, I like John Tillers Napoleonic computer game series better has a feel for Napoleonic Minatures with the graphic representations of infantry, cavalry, and artillery. Very easy to learn and play. |

Not really, but I collect board games as well as miniature rules and miniatures in at least 6 scales (sigh). C&C:N set is complete and gets played rarely as first choice. |

Yes. Occasionally. Busy stickering up the C&CN Prussian expansion. Just bought W1815 which was linked to above. Plays through in 15-20 minutes. Also pledged to the KS for Alessio Cavatore's (author of Bolt Action) Waterloo: Quelle Affaire link |

Chit and map boardgames are wargames where I come from & no I don't I am however much more likely to play a Napoleonic board wargame than a Nappy minis game – unless the attitudes of board gamers of this period is the same as those of minis gamers of this period the worst tabletop experiences of my gaming history have all been with Napoleonic players |

When I can find someone to play them with. It's like pulling teeth around here to get these guys to put down the lead for a few hours to play a board game. I still love to play them and find they are a good reference tool for miniature scenarios. A well design one like those made by "Clash of Arms" can give real insight to a particular battle or campaign. If I can only find some reliable opponents. I hate having them collect dust on my shelves. Anyone remember the Waterloo game you got free with a subscription to S&T. Man we played that to death. Still have it! |
