If I use a tarlton style helmet/head on these can they be used for 1798-1805 ie Holland/India and Egypt amongst other campaigns. Very nice as always the Perrys never disappoint. Cheers Oops, adendum just spotted the tarlton style helmet comes with the box. So chaps where's my 'pinks' tally-ho off to catch a fox, what hey! |

Always loved the Tarleton helmet. |
Supercilius Maximus | 03 Jun 2015 3:51 a.m. PST |
Zargon, I understand there will be three headgear styles – Tarletons, shakos, and a separate head for depicting troops serving in India, with a helmet closer to the French dragoon helmet of the 1790s. Otherwise, the Tarleton will do for everything after 1790 (earlier for some regiments, as at least two had it during the AWI) – that includes Flanders, Ireland, The Netherlands, Egypt, South America, the Mediterranean, North America up to 1813, and the Peninsula until 1813. (Although the Tarleton was officially replaced by the shako in 1812, regiments serving overseas wouldn't have got theirs until at least the following year's clothing issue.) |

and (best of all) RHA………… almost throughout the Wars. Might depend on the combination of laced coat, overall trousers, head options |

Zargon, Yes, I'm not sure why they specify 1808 as the start date, other than that was the start date of the Peninsular War. As you and SM say, they'll happily do for most Light Dragoon, Yeomanry, Fencible Cavalry or Provisional Cavalry Regiment that war dolman. The fact that they come with breeches and boots also helps represent those earlier uniforms. For the purists, there was an earlier braided jacket before the dolman that looks somewhat different and early dolmans had short tails. A lot of Yeomanry/Fencible domlans also lacked the fancy braid, having just buttons. |

Looks like another superb set. |

Thanks SuperMax and Jemima, yes this will be a well sought after box I think (especially by me:) want to do a couple of earlier units I know they won't be 100% correct but with a paint job etc. perfect for my and I spose others who are not die-hard button counters. I'm a Sharps Sword rules kind of chap and want to extend my up and coming campaign using these cavalry against the Marrahata Bellybadtummy and his nefarious underlings :) Cheers all happy gaming |

Any idea yet on what the 2 "extra" figures comprise, just an extra 2 troopers? Usually 12 figures in most plastic cavalry boxes. Conversion possibilities for the HEIC era as well. In any event, a most welcome addition… |
Footslogger | 05 Jun 2015 3:26 a.m. PST |
Perry cavalry are usually 14 mounted figures and a couple of dead bodies. It's an odd number but it's what fits on the sprues. I've always found a use for the leftovers. |
Ligniere | 05 Jun 2015 4:36 a.m. PST |
If you regularly use units that are 12 figures strong the extra figures can be used to supplement command stands. For example, I might place one general and one plastic horseman on a stand and call it a division command stand. If you regularly use units that are 8 or 16 figures strong then you can always order an extra command sprue (assuming the box uses a 2 figure command sprue) and take the box numbers from 14 to 16. |

Praise be! All my prayers answered! (well, about half of them maybe…) Can't wait to get a load of these. The new British light infantry figs look gorgeous too. |

Having seen your (magnificent) insanity on the Steve Dean Forum, I can only imagine how many hundreds of boxes you have on order…… |

SM, I am currently negotiating the sale of a kidney to some gentlemen from Guatamala. That should allow me to buy some of the boxes I will need. |

"And in response to my query on Facebook, the Perrys have confirmed that plastic French pre-1812 Chasseurs a Cheval are in the works too." Awesome. I would rather wait for Perry's French Chasseurs a Cheval than get Warlord's now. I still have enough French cavalry to finish off whilst I am waiting. Would prefer my cavalry have consistent styling and won't have to use Warlord's metal command. Cheers James |
