I did a search here, most 'compatibility' threads are 5 or so years old. SPECIFICALLY, what line is bigger/has more bulk to fit with FoW/BF soldiers? These guys generally have large heads, helmets, and they appear to be wearing 1-2 pairs of sweat suits under their uniforms. They do not look correct next to my PSC plastic soldiers. The PSC guys are all thin, wear tight clothing, weapons are tiny too Looking for updated info, new release stuff Just talking soldiers here, not AFVs Looking to add some soldiers here and there to my large number of FoW/BF collection for some variety. My FoW/BF guys are individually based on 3/4" 'fender washers' that have the #10 size center hole So, what do I add to my FoW/BF collection that will look best side by side? FWIW, my stuff is mid to late war HEER. Might add some cavalry for mounted recon, signal, bash a few more guys into Medics, or simply add some more poses. Having served 20 years I know soldiers come in all sizes and shapes. Thanks in advance! |

Are Essex Miniatures still around? Theirs could be compatible. Not so sure otherwise. I run several manufacturer's figures together in my collection. Close up there's an obvious difference. But on the table, with a game going it doesn't seem to make much difference. I have run many a game where I'm providing the figures for four to six players. My 15mm Germans include figures from Battle Front, Command Decision, Peter Pig, Essex and Quality Castings. Can't think of a time I've heard a complaint as to the various types being used together. Some have said something about it being hard to tell just which figure is armed with what. But that's because most of us are a bit old and we're playing Bolt Action. |

The new PSC figures are very close to Battlefront in sculpting style. |

The Essex WW2 figures are great, but it's not a complete range. The crouching/prone poses are particularly good. They actually look under fire. Probably better if based in multiples though. |

I have a box of PSC late Grenadiers and Hvy Weapons and US Infantry and US Weapons, all seem thin and sickly compared to my FoW/BF guys. I have used a few PSC guys to fill rosters but I have to doctor up the heads torso and legs a bit with Liquitex medium for some extra size. Height-wise, sure lots of variations, quite normal, but overall, looks like skinny 14 y/o youths next to American Football players. The old Battle Honors 15, likely Quality Castings 'old small line' fit well with the PSC guys. I'm near Tacoma, WA, USA and know that BROOKHURST in my childhood SoCal area stocks all….just trying to figure out the best fillers to order. Simply not any local variety to compare before buying. Thanks for the comments folks! Keep the ideas coming! |

I think the PSC are a bit small compared to middle market Peter Pig and Command Decision … I used to replace the big FoW heads with PP ones (they do separate heads with spigot necks on them ready to go so are excellent for mix'n'match-ing) – but these days it isn't really necessary as FoW ballooning has calmed down a bit. My book? PP, FoW, CD, FiB all go nicely together … PSC, QC and QRF all can be used but 'with care'. Phil P.B.Eye-Candy |

One fail safe if I do err and the guys end up small it to put them in the pile with the PSC and small old package Battle Honors guys. Betting the newer PP might work. Yes to head swaps etc, more poses, even a turned head or helmeted figure with a soft cap adds interest. Noticed the FoW/BF "Begleit Platoon" that the guys are small and thin. Must be the recent levy of 16 y/o Hitler Youth |

I always thought the new style PSC was almost an exact match to BF in size? Not that I have any to compare!

Piers, looks like a new set to me! Have not seen them yet. I did see the British set and they looked very nice/more robust. Perhaps this set could work. Now it must be down the road as earlier today I ordered a few packs of PP from Brookhurst in SoCal. I bought some line late war (LW) guys for comparison and to mix in with my existing forces included some much-needed RTOs. In addition, I bought a pk of Mounted soldiers; pk of NCOs, 3 packs of soldiers, pack of LMGs, some pack animals too. Will use the mounted units for CAV/RECON element or anti-partisan patrol. UPON RECEIPT, I will post up some side-by-side comparos |

It is new, was released in April… I painted the figures on the box. |

they look nicer than the regular Grenadier set. do they appear 'stiff' like the earlier set? could you send some larger format pics of your paintwork on these? |

My Peter Pig soldiers and Cavalry arrived but I have been busy with a 1:1 scale kitchen remodel. Please bear with my blog as this will be the best format for the time being. The castings are pretty fair work! FoW/BF guys have thick bases, PP guys have thin bases. My one specimen for height matching required .030" to bring the feet in line. This puts the soldiers to parity in height. Helmets are very close in size. Let me get a few soldiers based, then I'll do a line-up. Stalling here until I can locate my camera! |

PP Grenadier (L) with a stack of shims to make up for the mega base on the FoW/BF guy on the right link Pretty close in size, shape, overall compatibility link German Cavalry link Essex horses with one of the FoW/BF Begleit troopers. Later war the mounted guys would be packing STGs link |
