Dupleix 's body guard was not topas ,which were the 6th co.,of De Busseys inf., The bodyguard was only a 12 man mtd, unit red coats black facings gold trim. Info on this theater is hard to come by,Rene Chartrands Osprey on the colonial troops of Louis are good and partizans press to the ends of the earth. In India you had to impress the princes ,w/ a show of power and glitz, the topas being mixed blood Portuguese and indian were great inf.,but not guard worthy. Lally though a fierce leader hated the native troops at his disposal and was always hesitant to use them, also hated De Bussey ,who was adored by the army. That being said I love the blog and follow it all the time .their are so few of us gaming this period,I run a game every year at the Seven years war con in Indiana,it is a fun theater.
