A long time ago I wrote a simple set of Dark Age skirmish rules called Blades of Crimson. My motivation at the time was to design something that I could play with my son who was at that time coming to an age where such things interested him. Unfortunately he has since grown up -- something that I have failed to do.
I had largely forgotten about the rules until Daniel Mersey said some nice things about them in the recent Wargames Illustrated (Issue 331). As a result several people have approached me for copies.
The rules were published in Practical Wargamer May/June issue 1993 and if anyone is interested in a copy I have them as a free download on my website at link

Cheers, Simon. I enjoyed these rules for some time before losing my copy of PW. Good to have them back again.

Thanks you Simon.

You are very generous with your rules.

Up until we 'discovered' Dux Brittaniarum a few years ago, we played a slightly modified (or rather added to)version of Crimson Blades regularly for at least 12 years.

Hi

The top three lines of page three are missing. Is it positle to restore that page, please?

Thanks Simon. We used Blades of Crimson to run a very enjoyable Norman invasion Campaign way back then.
Great rules and I believe I've seen their influence in some recent dark age commercial rules too.

Thanks for the kind words.
@nobby531 – I had not noticed the missing lines on p3 – thanks for letting me know. I will rescan and upload a fresh copy in the next couple of days.
Simon.

I have reposted the rules with the whole of p3 now legible!

Thank you Simon. I read an article by Dan Mersey that recommend the rules and quoted them as inspirational.

I think I worked out the top of the first column but the other two were a mystery :0)
