Just off the painting table is my latest unit of 17th C Foot. These men represent the Regiment Persan which was one of the Petit Vieux -- regiments which had been taken onto the official French army establishment. Persan was a client of Condé and had one battalion supporting the prince at the Battle of the Dunes in 1648. The orders of battle for June 1648 give an average strenght of 450 men per battalion on the Spanish/British/Condé rebel side so I have decided to have mostly 12 figure battalions which will probably most often be combined on the games table into two battalion sized units. link |
